We solve one of the most difficult challenges facing families today...caring for loved ones requiring essential personal home care services.

Understanding Mental Illness in Our Elderly

Seniors face many challenges as they age, from mobility limitations to memory loss. One issue that is often overlooked is mental illness among the elderly.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 20% of seniors around the world have some form of neurological disorder, the most common being Alzheimer's disease and depression.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also notes that depression is more prevalent among people with existing conditions or restricted function, which represents roughly 80% of the elderly community.

There are many reasons why seniors with mental health issues may be reluctant to ask for help. Mental illness often occurs alongside other health conditions, so symptoms may be missed or attributed to other aspects of aging.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's® is just 53 days away! Our team has raised $852.00 already, but our goal is $1,500.00. We've chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to us, and we hope you'll support our fundraising efforts.

This year's event won't be a large in-person gathering, but our Team still is walking - each of us in our own neighborhood to raise awareness throughout the community. Together, we can advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer's, and provide programs and support to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans.

Natural Sleep Remedies for Seniors

Sleep problems affect many older adults and can impact their overall health and wellness. Trouble falling or staying asleep can be caused by medications, stress, depression, age-related changes in sleep patterns, or other health conditions.

No matter what is causing your older loved one's sleep issues, it's important to address the problem. Sleep difficulties have been linked to depression, obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, and can cause lapses in concentration, memory, and mood. Daytime sleepiness related to insomnia can also increase your older loved one's risk of falling and other accidents.

7 Essential Elements of Senior Wellness

Maintaining or enhancing one's health and wellness shouldn't stop at a predetermined age. As we get older, we need to pursue a balanced mind and body by focusing on our physical well-being as well as our happiness, fulfillment, and mental fortitude.

Seniors should not be afraid to live their best and most fulfilled life. With the assistance of family, friends, and professional in-home caregivers, seniors can successfully pursue the  seven elements of senior wellness.

The COVID-19 pandemic may be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a new disease and what could happen can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. Public health actions, such as social distancing, can make people feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety. However, these actions are necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

September Holidays!

Summer's final fling has arrived in the form of Labor Day. While summer officially still has 21 calendar days left, it's time to get serious. Children of all ages are beginning the school year, (albeit in most cases virtually due to COVID-19) and the long-awaited football season reappears (Go Ravens!). It's also the month where the mystical harvest moon makes its appearance. On the first Monday in September, we celebrate Labor Day and honor on the American worker's who toil for a living -  sometimes overnight while the rest of us sleep. We honor the visionaries working to help us all enjoy better, healthier and safer lives.

On the Sunday following Labor Day - this year on September 13 - National Grandparents Day honors the love only grandparents can provide. Grandparents and their grandchildren share a special bond. These hugging, caring and patient people in the lives of children offer more than a generous dose of love. Grandparents provide an abundance of wisdom, guidance and stability.

Falls Prevention Awareness Day is on September 22 at the start of the fall season and it's a very serious matter that we all need to be paying attention to. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related emergency department visits and the day is used to address this public health issue. Falls can be more dangerous than they might seem. They can cause bruising, hip fractures, and head injuries, and these accidents have the potential to be fatal, especially for the elderly which means that they deserve extra attention to make sure they're protected. Check out our fall prevention tips

To all our clients, their families and our employees who are observing Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur,
Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Sweet and Peaceful New Year.
L'Shana Tova!
