This week marks the beginning of the Jewish festival of Shavuot which commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai. We know this year's celebration/observance may feel a little different, but we hope you find joy however you choose to celebrate. (Perhaps new traditions will evolve).

Distinguished Service Awards Virtual Ceremony
Thursday June 4, 2020
This year's DSA Ceremony will take place (virtually) on  Thursday June 4th from 7:30pm-8:45 PM.  We will honor 22 individuals for their outstanding dedication to the Westchester Jewish community. In recognition of the Silver Anniversary of the awards, we will also be honoring Donald J. Fleishaker who was the recipient of a first DSA Award in 1996 and remains a key community leader and honorary Council board member.

SAVE THE DATE
A county-wide Memorial Service coordinated by our Westchester Board of Rabbis in association with other Council member organizations will take place on Thursday evening June 18th remembering those that have passed away during these weeks of Covid-19 restrictions. Event details will be shared as soon as they become available.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY GOVERNMENT NEWS
Thank you to Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins for taking part in our special zoom briefing for the Jewish community last Thursday. They provided the community with updates, along with marking the month of May as Jewish History and Heritage month. We remain so grateful for the support and friendship demonstrated by our elected officials.

Woodlands Community Temple in White Plains will livestream its fourth annual Pride Shabbat service at 8pm on Friday, June 5 (facebook.com/wctemple) . This warm, welcoming service of equality, inclusion and love will feature Taren Rome, teacher of Torah who brings together the experiences of being a queer non-binary trans Jew, lifelong seeker, and cultivator of consciousness, to unite disparate concepts and identities in powerful and innovative ways.
