Water Conservation Tip
If your shower fills a one gallon bucket in less than 20 seconds you're using too much water. Replace the shower head with a new Water Sense approved shower head to conserve water.
How much water do you use daily?
Did you know the average American uses 80-100 gallons of water per day?
  • Brushing your teeth uses 2 - 5 gallons of water
  • A load of laundry uses on average 25 gallons of water
  • Hand-washing dishes uses 8 - 13 gallons of water, depending on how efficient you are
  • Taking a shower uses 2 - 8 gallons of water per minute, depending on the efficiency of your shower head
Learn about water conservation
Invite a Water Ambassador to speak to your school group or organization about water conservation. Presentations provide in-depth information about local water challenges and solutions by exploring how water moves and is captured for urban use both regionally and here in the south metro area. There are four new presentations, each developed to support classroom learning and provide grade-level information and activities.
