HOW TO APPLY TO
MOORPARK COLLEGE AS A DREAMER:

A High School Graduate
(with no AP Scores &/or College/University credit)

Gather the Following Documents
|

In order to successfully apply to Moorpark College, please have the following documents & information on hand:
|
|
Documents:
- Obtain a copy of your all your High School Transcripts (unofficial) for your records and request to have your official High School transcripts sent to Moorpark College’s Admissions & Records Office
- You can talk to your high school counselor and ask them how to get a copy your unofficial as well as how to send an official to campus
- High School ID number
- Social Security Number (if you have one through DACA) or ITIN
- Tax records from self or/and parents (the past 2 years)

Now that you have all these documents on hand, go ahead and start your online application for admission, financial aid, in-state tuition and other items. Here are the steps:
|
|
1. Apply to Moorpark College
|
|
- Make sure you use your personal email address; no high school emails, as those tend to expire shortly after you graduate.
- Write down your username and password for the OpenCCC account (this account is different from your Moorpark College student account, which is Step 4 below).
- If you do not have any legal documents, under the citizenship section select “other.” Then, under visa type, select "other" or “no documents."

OR CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING TAX RECOMMENDATION: If you identify as a DACA recipient or have an ITIN, use your DACA Social Security Number or your ITIN, and under the citizenship section select “other.” For visa type, select “other.” Then, enter the issued date and expiration date of your DACA Social Security Number or ITIN.
- Please note, that you can also choose to not disclose your information at this time and will have the opportunity to do it while on-campus if you are interested.
- The information you provide on your OpenCCC account is protected.

Moorpark College Outreach is available without an appointment to guide your students through our application and matriculation process on Wednesdays from 2:30PM-5PM through Zoom

2. Complete the appropriate In-State Tuition Form
|
|
- If you were classified as a non-resident, you will also receive a follow-up email from your acceptance email (where you first got your 900# Student ID) informing you that you need to fill out an additional form. You may also see a higher tuition fee (out-of state tuition) on your account upon enrolling in courses. Not to worry! You may still be eligible to pay in-state tuition if you meet the criteria for either/or of the options below:
- If you identify as a DACA recipient, you can potentially be reclassified as a CA Resident. Download, read, fill out, gather the documents requested and submit the Residency Reclassification Request to the Admissions & Records office from your @my.vcccd.edu email to Kelly Little, our Dreamers Liaison in Admissions and Records, to klittle@vcccd.edu and mcadmissions@vcccd.edu. As mentioned, you will require supporting documentation and should only be submitted if you meet all of the following criteria:
- You currently hold an immigration status (like DACA) that is eligible to establish California Residency and you have had (or applied for) that status at least 366 days prior to the start of the term.
- You have been physically present in California with the intent to make California your home for other than a temporary purpose at least a year day prior to the start of the term.

Submit the form along with a picture/scan/PDF of your high school transcripts.
|
|
3. Apply to the CA Dream Act for Financial Aid
|
|
Those who identify as undocumented students may qualify for AB 540/In-State Tuition. Please submit a California Dream Act Application (CADAA) for state, emergency and financial aid consideration.
The Financial Aid Office host virtual workshops every Tuesday from 4-6PM. They will take you step-by-step on how to get the money you need for tuition, textbooks and living expenses.

4. Log on to MyVCCCD Student Portal
|
|
|
- Your live link to set up the student portal is delivered in the acceptance email you receive after making your application to the college in step 1 above. Please note that this link will expire after 10 days.
- Check out thoroughly your MyVCCCD Student Portal, as this is the site that contains your student records and important links and information related to Moorpark College.
- Ensure you have access to your VCCCD student email which can be in the following format firstn_lastn#@my.vcccd.edu

5. Prepare for Enrollment Priority/Priority Registration
|
|
- Complete the English Self-Placement Assessment.This new self-placement assessment asks you questions about your time and past experience taking English courses; at the end you will receive a sheet that suggest the English level you should take.
- Complete the New Student Orientation.
- Complete your preliminary Ed Plan. Create and submit your abbreviated Educational Plan without approval.

6. Attend a Registration Workshop
|
|
|
If you are a new student at Moorpark College or just in your first-year and need some more detailed information about navigating college life, consider signing-up for one of our Raider Registration Workshops.
|
Moorpark College General Counseling staff and faculty can help you select your courses and determine next steps for you and your academic goals.
|
|
7. Schedule a Counseling Appointment
|
|
Meet with an academic counselor to get help choosing your courses and solidifying your educational plan. Visit the Starfish Link on your Portal to schedule an appointment with a counselor (). We encourage all students to schedule at least one Counseling appointment per semester.
Quick questions such as, choosing a major or which classes to take, applying for a degree, certificate, or IGETC certification, speak to a counselor the same day during virtual drop-in counseling. Counselors can also assist with class schedule, petitions, unit overload requests, and other quick questions via drop-in counseling. Drop-in counseling is also the easiest and fastest way to have a pre-requisites.

Moorpark College's General Counseling services are now divided by Area of Interest. Each pathway has a team of people who work closely together to provide you with specialized counseling and support for majors within the pathway. When you log into Starfish to schedule an appointment, you will see your Pathway Team. This team is based on your active major(s).
|
|
