Self-care tips
Whether you are self-quarantining, social distancing, or now working from home, we are all adjusting to a new normal amid the Covid19 pandemic. While this is a stressful time, there are a few things we can do to look after our physical and emotional needs. Not only can these self-care practices help us cope with isolation and stress, but they can also keep us feeling our best during this tough time.
How to Be Your Best Self at Home with these 9 Tips

Set Your Limits
The media are on a minute-by-minute,
24-hour news cycle but that doesn’t mean that you have to be. Limit yourself and check or listen to the news once a day.
Keep to Your Routine
Attend to your basic needs. Sleep , eat , work, and play as normally as possible. The reassurance of a predictable schedule calms nerves without us even realizing it.

Take a Moment to Reset
Cabin fever is real and your mental health is important. Taking a few minutes to reset every few hours is an important step to successfully sheltering in place. Trying to quiet your mind can be a lot of work for many. Guided meditation is a more structured option where you listen to a narrator and follow their cues.  You can find thousands of options online for free.

Bring in the Sounds of Nature
One of the best parts about being out on the trail or a picnic in the park are the nature sounds! Bring a little bit of relaxation into the room with a creek running, leaves rustling or ocean waves crashing. These are super easy to find online.

Have Fun
Watch a movie, read a book , play a game or do a puzzle. Try something new or rediscover an old hobby. Gardening can be a form of therapy to reduce depression and anxiety. Also known to increase happiness, giving better concentration and lowers blood pressure. Try planting the seed from a lemon or any other fruits and vegetables you may be eating!

Get Up and Dance
This is so effective because when you dance or do anything that gets your heart rate up, your brain starts releasing endorphins, which can help boost your mood and decrease anxiety.  Don’t be shy: put on a few of your favorite tunes and start moving.

Practice Self Love
Take a bubble bath or drink a cup of tea. For centuries, people all over the world have used tea to help them feel peaceful, calm, and even fall asleep. If you can, create a beautiful ritual around a daily cup of tea. Or when was the last time you took a bubble bath? Not into bubbles? Try a warm bath with Epsom Salt or a few drops of essential oil. Allow the water to soothe your muscles and your mind.

Start a Gratitude Journal
Every day find a few quiet moments to think about, then write down, things that you’re thankful for. In essence, this allows your brain to rewire and focus more on the positive aspects of your life. It also helps build up resilience against negative situations.

Stay In Touch with Others
Make some time each day to make contact with those you love. Whether you use the phone or video chatting, it’ll help you maintain the social connection that is so important for your well-being.
