Can I Check my Drivers License Status Online?
Most people don't think that they need to pay anything to search. However, to search, you must first show proof of identification, a driver's license, or a passport. You will then be required to provide proof of insurance, either a current policy or an updated policy, if the person has changed insurance companies in the last six months. If the driver is a US citizen, all of these things are usually acceptable documents.
Before you can search, you must prove that you have contacted all of the relevant parties. This usually requires some proof of communication, such as a letter from the organ donor. This letter should include the name of the organ donor and the official address of the driver's place of employment. In some states, you must provide this proof before you can apply. This means that you may need to fax these documents to the department of motor vehicles.
After sending your documents to the DMV, you should wait a maximum of five business days before searching. If no verification results come out of the search, the department will need to contact the driver. They will then verify the information you have provided and either issue a temporary driver's license or a permanent driver's license number. The temporary ID cards are valid for a set amount of time, during which time you may be able to use them again without having to show proof of insurance. If this is not an option for you at this point, you will need to reapply, and you will have to show proof of insurance again.
