How to Prepare for Ash Wednesday
|
|
|
7pm Wed. Feb. 17 Live Stream Ash Wednesday and Holy Communion
|
Get the link HERE and live on Facebook.
Lent begins with a solemn call to fasting and repentance. We hear Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within me. During Lent, the people of God reflect on the meaning of their baptism into Christ’s death and resurrection. The ashes are a sign of our human mortality and frailty. What seems like an ending is really an invitation to make each day a new beginning; washed in God’s mercy and forgiveness. With the cross on our brow, we long for the spiritual renewal that flows from the springtime Easter feast to come.

It’s that time of year again and many of us have cards expiring and renewing. You will want to be sure your new information is current for Simply Giving/Give+ go to the website, open the “give” tab and click on “donate.” Sheila Bartlett can help! We want to be sure that your gifts continue to support our mission.
It might also be a good time to consider an adjustment to the amount and/or frequency of your offering. The need is real! Your gifts help us maintain and grow our outreach and ministry.
Thanks!

Many remember Sally and Pastor Bob Winkel. News came last week of her death on Monday, Feb 1. Pastor Parks has been in touch with him, shared our care and prayers. Bob served here at Our Savior’s for about twelve years before retiring in 2000.
He would welcome your cards and notes of encouragement. Madrona House 8800 Madison Ave North #134; Bainbridge Island, WA 98110
“Lord, now let your servant depart in peace according to thy word. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which you have prepared before the face of all people; To be a light to the Nations and to be the glory of thy people Israel.”

- Maintains our commitment to the Synod
- Compensates the Associate Pastor for the entire year
- Keeps existing staffing
- Reflects adjustments in anticipated facility income and utilities
- Adds a line item for the Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Thanks for the meeting. Thanks for your part in financially supporting the ministry and outreach of Our Savior’s!

The World and the Congregation
Needs Your Peace
|
We have been delighted to see the selfie video expressions of peace from the members and friends of Our Savior’s. There have been grandmothers, toddlers, teenagers and pets! Grab your phone, set it to video, hold it in landscape orientation, smile and say “God’s Peace to You!”
We’re collecting these for worship because they bless all those who share online. Your face, your greeting and your willingness to share is a powerful gift and helps in these crazy days of COVID 19.

Over the years, 100 tons of leaves, branches and fallen debris around the church have been scooped up by hard working volunteers and donated to a local compositing sight. Thank You!
