Arkansas soybean producer and United Soybean Board (USB) director Derek Haigwood is making a global impact as chairman of the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC). In September, Haigwood visited the country of Colombia to discuss the importance of quality soy.

Haigwood was appointed to his USB role by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Purdue. The USB chose Haigwood to represent the organization in one of its four appointed positions on the USSEC board. Haigwood has been a member of the USSEC since 2015.

Haigwood farms soybeans, rice, corn, cotton, grain sorghum, wheat and sesame seeds in Jackson County with his wife, Shannon, and their two sons.
