This fun, lively class will take you through the WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHERE AND WHEN of all levels of government contracting. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and determine if you are ready to pursue government contracts.

VA Procurement Opportunities and One-on-One Matchmaking Sessions

Presented by the SBDC

VISN 22 includes Southern Arizona and Southern California. As a result, there will be an expanded emphasis on construction, architecture, engineering and leases, in addition to all the other supplies and service categories. 

Last year's meetings covered the following type of contracts:
  • Construction, including A & E
  • Leases
  • Supplies (all types) - including medical, general, small equipment purchases, prosthetic, etc.
  • Services (all types) - including medical and general services

There is a workshop presentation the morning of the VA Vendor Fair on February 6th at the Tucson VA Hospital. The workshop covers How To Do Business with the VA, Expectations of Vendors, and How to Get Paid.

Why Does the 8(a) Program Penalize Older Business Owners?

The 8(a) Program can offer incredible opportunities: sole source contracts, set-aside competitions, mentor-protege relationships, SBA business training and much more.

But for business owners older than 59 1/2, getting admitted to the 8(a) Program can be very difficult: unlike their younger counterparts, funds these owners have saved in traditional retirement accounts will likely count against the 8(a) Program’s $250,000 adjusted net worth cap.
