Hello Friends,
Are you ever intrigued (or even over whelmed) by the great work out there around self improvement? Yoga, meditation and contemplation are great tools to up-level ones self - improving inner and outer fitness. There is so much out there now: cold immersion, breath-work, many fitness modalities, nutrition, mindfulness supplements, bodywork etc. We have so many tools and teachings of how -to improve health and wellness are everywhere in recent years.
Yoga invites another perspective - without negating all the work we do on and for ourselves because we do need to be well to live our best life.
A part of the yoga path is to shift perspective - to move awareness to what is inside always.
An ancient and famous shloka (song or verse) from the Upanishads teaches us about our nature being perfect, whole and complete. In english the verses are:
That is complete
This is complete
If you take the completeness away from completeness, only completeness remains.
This is the concept of Purna, sanskrit for wholeness, completeness, perfection.
Nothing to be added.
Nothing to be taken away.
And this is what you are.
Because this is not a mental construct it is something to be felt into and experienced. We all have imperfections. Yet, an aspect of our nature is complete. My flaws and your flaws do not take away from our infinite nature.
In my classes, we are exploring this along with movement of course.
For those of you who might be curious why this experience of completeness and wholeness is not always felt, we will be addressing that over coming weeks.
To sum up, I hope that you feel inspired in your practice to allow space and time to BE- to feel the repose of awareness. The teachings tell us that source energy/essence nature/pure spirit comes to rest in each of us. The repose in the center of ones' being is known as Visranti. May you take time to feel the nourishment of your own center and be at peace.
