It has been less than two months since we woke up to Hamas’ brutal assault on Israel’s people, and our support for the Jewish State remains steadfast.

This week, Women of Reform Judaism made a second emergency allocation from our YES Fund to support the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Israel Rabbinic Program (IRP)

With WRJ’s support, HUC-JIR will care for students and faculty by facilitating mental, emotional, and spiritual care; assisting displaced students; and providing special training in crisis management and leadership during times of war and trauma.

Prior to this donation, WRJ made an emergency allocation to the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism, our partner on the ground in Israel and a multi-year YES Fund grantee. You can learn more about this allocation and the power of our deep relationships with our grantees in my recent op-ed in eJewish Philanthropy.

Since 1913, WRJ has been the philanthropic engine of the Reform Movement in North America, Israel, and throughout the world. Our decades of philanthropy enable us to tap into our relationships that predate this conflict and best listen to our partners in this time of need.

In the past month we have hosted two panels highlighting our DEI grantees and Reform Movement partners. Our final session in the series on November 29 will focus on our partners in Israel and their crucial work during the ongoing conflict. Register to join us today.

As those kidnapped remain in captivity and as this war continues, we don’t know what the future holds. We do know that whatever happens, WRJ will be there.

With your generous support of the YES Fund, WRJ can remain a resource to our partners to help them address their changing needs.

Please consider a donation by selecting “YES Fund Contribution” as your donation designation on our website.

This war will have lasting impacts. We know women and girls are at increased risk of harm, volunteers are returning to work, and so many are on the front lines. Together, with your contribution, we can ensure that WRJ is there to help.
