Dear Presbytery of the Miami Valley,
I have been asked by members of the presbytery, as well as from members of other presbyteries around our denomination, about ways to support the Springfield community. First, hold the community in prayer. The Haitian community has been the target of lies. This bearing of false witness against the Haitian community has caused the entire Springfield community to experience many layers of stress and strain. Let us offer up prayers for safety, peace, and unity as the Springfield community finds ways to navigate both the opportunities and challenges that come with large scale growth.
For those who have indicated a desire to make a monetary donation, two organizations within Springfield that work directly with the Haitian community are:
Haitian Community Help & Support Center
Viles Dorsainvil, Director
1530 S Yellow Springs St
Springfield, OH 45506
St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store
2424 E High St.
Springfield, OH 45505
Both organizations accept checks sent to their address. Each has online giving options. The Presbytery of the Miami Valley will also collect monetary donations either by check or through our online giving portal. Simply note which one of these organizations you would like to designate, and the presbytery will ensure the money makes it to its intended destination.
It is also necessary to stay up to date on facts and to speak directly with those who are working to meet the challenges so that the whole community can be a place of safety and flourishing. You can follow this link to the Clark County Ohio webpage on frequently asked questions.
Our sister congregations, Covenant Presbyterian Church and Northminster Presbyterian Church will also welcome your questions and signs of support and encouragement.

May our response show the love of Jesus Christ,
