Ever wonder how to determine the age of mechanical components?
In the example above the date is actually printed on the data-plate 1/2009. Other companies will have it embedded in the serial number which is found on the data-plate. With a little online research, you can determine the age using that serial number!
When we perform your home inspection we will research the serial number
and find the age in 95% of the cases. Sometimes the data-plate is worn and
the numbers are no longer visible, the company has gone out of business or
been acquired by another company that does not use the acquired companies numbers. Companies today are increasingly stamping the “date of manufacture” on the plate making it much easier to determine.
