Get Ready for Cold and Flu Season

As we move through fall and into winter, we are at greater risk of getting respiratory illnesses like Flu, COVID, or RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). Find out more about:

Flu
COVID
RSV

Most of the time, people have mild symptoms when they get sick and recover in a week or two. But sometimes they can get very sick and may require hospital care. In fact, according to the CDC, about 245,000 people in the U.S. died from COVID in 2022 and another 5,000 died from the flu.

Doctors agree the best way to protect yourself and others is to get vaccinated. This is especially important for young children and older adults.

Schedule flu and COVID appointments in MyChart or call your CHA Care Center. For RSV, if you’re 60-64 years old, please call your CHA Care Center to schedule an appointment. Anyone over 65 can get an RSV shot at any CHA Pharmacy. Look for more information about RSV for pregnant women in the future.

Move to the Front of the Line – Get in Faster

Sometimes appointments fill up quickly and it may take longer to see your provider. Two new tools – Waitlist and Fastpass – can get you in faster when appointments open up.

Waitlist: Lets you be added to a list if you want to be seen sooner.

Fastpass: Uses MyChart to contact you if an appointment opens up sooner than the one you have scheduled. It also lets you schedule the new date/time or decline it and wait for another.

The two tools work together to help you be seen faster. If you want to receive these notifications, just tell us when you schedule your appointment. Waitlist and Fastpass are available in primary care and will be available throughout CHA in 2024.

Easy Results

No one wants to hunt for their test results online. That’s why we made it easier for you to see your results in MyChart. The updated Test Results section now shows your results clearly, compares them to past results, and links you to more information to help you understand the numbers. Check it out in your MyChart account.
