The Congregational Church of Algonquin
A United Church of Christ
Our response to this pandemic
After considering the information from
the Illinois Conference, the CDC and the State of Illinois,
our Church Council has agreed that we need to
cancel all church meetings and gatherings
through the end of March.

This includes: worship services, ministry meetings, committee meetings, social gatherings and other uses of our building.

The Church is
Available for Prayer
The church will be open
to anyone seeking
to come to the sanctuary
for prayer.

Pastor Cope will be available
on Sunday mornings
for people who do come in.

We will have hand-sanitizer available, and ask that social distancing guidelines be followed.
Pastor Cope will be sending out meditations, Bible studies, etc. so that everyone will have access to spiritual resources.

He is also going to try to create "fireside chats" that are made available through YouTube.
These cancellations are expected to last until the end of March, but could be longer.
Council has decided we must cancel the following events:

All Sunday Services
All Bible Studies and Classes
Pot Luck
Missions Sunday
Ministry Job Fair
Chocolate Fest

Heavenly Attic is Closed

You will be made aware of any additional cancellations as we make these decisions.

Phone Tree
We are organizing a "phone tree" to assist in keeping the congregation informed. If you would like to be a "first up" contact, let the Church Office know. These will be the first called, to help disseminate information.

As a Church,
we will be working to face any upcoming economic challenges.

We will work together
to be prepared for the future, whatever may come.
This is not the End!
No one knows
exactly how long this will take, or what the "after-shocks"
will be like, but we WILL
make it through this crisis!

Plan ahead. Be frugal. Hoarding is unnecessary.

Consider ordering groceries through Walmart or Amazon, rather than facing crowds, especially if you are in
an "at risk" category.

Contact the Church Office if you need assistance.

We would encourage you to resist spending your day watching reports that focus on panic and projections.

1850 - 2020
170 Years!
We will be holding a few events throughout 2020 in honor of our 170th Anniversary as a church.
