The Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (HCLHIC) is excited to be part of the 2023 Walktober initiatives! Walktober is celebrated in October across Maryland as part of our State's official exercise and the call to action to promote walking for physical activity and improved health for residents of all ages and abilities.

As we plan for HoCo Walktober 2023 events, a webpage will be created to highlight all the Walktober events. Promotional flyers in multiple languages and giveaways will be available. Please use the form to submit walk/move events.
The Howard County Health Department (HCHD) is interested in providing health education and resources to residents at your community health event(s)!

Coalition members may request materials and/or the presence of HCHD staff at community health events by completing the Community Health Education Request Form at least one month before the event. If you have any questions or cannot fill out the online form, please email askhealth@howardcountymd.gov.
The Howard County Health Department (HCHD) is pleased to launch the Perinatal Equity And Care for Everyone (P.E.A.C.E) Project. This project provides clients, families, and professionals with information about prenatal, postpartum, and infant resources available in Howard County through the Perinatal Care Navigator.

Coalition members are asked to share the referral survey that may be completed by the client or an assistant. For questions, please email the Perinatal Care Coordinator, Nayanie Henriquez, at nhenriquez@howardcountymd.gov or call 410-313-7540.
The Howard County Health Department (HCHD) is seeking the assistance of coalition members to help spread the word about Medicaid renewals. The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) noted that thousands of residents were disenrolled for procedural reasons such as not updating their eligibility information.

Coalition members are asked to share with residents who have health insurance through Medicaid that renewals are no longer automatic. Residents should:
1. Update contact information
2. Read communication from Maryland Health Connection
3. Keep track of key deadlines

Contact 410-313-5845 or medicaid@howardcountymd.gov for help making sure coverage stays in place. For more information, visit the HCHD Access to Care Services page.
