Howard County Executive Calvin Ball Opens Highland House to Support Pregnant Women
|
|
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball joined Tuerk House’s Chief Executive Officer, Bernard Gyebi-Foster, and Board Chairman, Dr. H. Duante Duckett, to cut the ribbon on Tuerk House’s new Highland House in Howard County. Howard County's Health Officer, Dr. Maura Rossman, gave remarks at the ribbon cutting of the new Highland House, a 16-bed residential treatment facility that will assist pregnant women recovering from substance misuse.

Fight Hunger. Serve Hope Grant
|

The Albertsons Companies Foundation has established the Fight Hunger. Serve Hope Grant to support organizations that are working to reduce food insecurity and improve nutrition among low-income children and families. The grant aims to fund programs that can help provide access to meals to youth, and increase participation in federal nutrition programs. Applications are open now through April 5th, 2024. Celebrating its 20th year, the Lung Association’s Enhancing Asthma Care program is reducing hospitalizations by 47% and emergency room visits by 37% for people with asthma in participating clinics. The Lung Association strongly encourages existing clinics that serve both pediatric and adult patients to take advantage of this FREE program.

HC DrugFree Drive-Thru Medication & Sharps Disposal Event
|

Please join HC DrugFree for their FREE and convenient drive-thru medication and sharps disposal event as a part of the National Drug Take Back Day! Bring any and all prescriptions or over-the-counter medications, syringes, Epi-Pens, vitamins, and even pet medications. This allows these items to be disposed of safely (please don't flush them!) or end up in the hands of those who might misuse them.

Virtual Teen Group Therapy

The National Family Resiliency Center (NFRC) will be hosting Virtual Teen Group therapy in April. Facilitated by two NFRC-licensed therapists, this teen group will provide a safe place, where teens meet for 6 weeks to foster connection and support from other teens experiencing similar life stressors.
This is a confidential group and parents’ permission will be required to participate.

The problem gambling screening guide was developed to encourage healthcare providers to screen clients for problem gambling. This guide provides the tools and resources to integrate the screening of Problem Gambling/Gambling Disorder into your agency’s current processes and protocols.
