Janelle Smith

President, Howell Area Chamber of Commerce

Thank you to our 2024 Trustees!

Dear Chamber Member:

The Howell Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for members to serve on the Chamber Board of Directors. If you know someone that is a positive voice for business in our community and would make a great addition to the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce Board, please nominate them today. The nomination form is attached, and the process is listed below directly from the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce by-laws:

“The Members shall receive notice of the nomination process by whatever means of communication is customarily used to communicate to the membership no less than thirty (30) days prior to the meeting of the nominating committee. The membership shall have ten (10) days to reply to the notice setting forth nominations for candidates to the Board of Directors.”

The nominating committee consists of three at-large members and three current board members. As stated in the bylaws of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce:

“The Nominating Committee shall review any nominations presented by the membership for consideration and may also set forth its own nominations. After review and consideration of all nominees nominated either by the Membership or the nomination committee, the nomination committee shall present to the Chairman a slate of candidates to serve three-year terms to replace the directors whose regular terms are expiring and a slate of candidates to fulfill any vacancies of less than three years. This slate of candidates shall then be approved by a majority vote of the Board of Directors. Each candidate must be an active member in good standing and a Chamber member for a minimum of one year and must have agreed to accept the responsibility of a directorship. No Board member who has served two consecutive three-year terms is eligible for election to a third term. A period of one (1) year must elapse before eligibility is restored. If a majority of the Board does not approve one or more candidates, the Nominating Committee shall present one alternate candidate for any non-approved candidate.”

We appreciate your support of the nominating process and election of the 2025 board of directors.

Thank you for your commitment to the Howell chamber.

Sincerely,

Geof Greeneisen
