2021-2022 HOWLERS

WINTER TRAVEL BASKETBALL

Please Note: Be advised that all aspects of the Lewisboro Parks and Recreation Department’s Howlers/travel and recreational basketball leagues are subject to changes due to COVID-19 guidelines and gym availability. In the current pandemic environment, rules and regulations are constantly changing that may alter our programs. The Lewisboro Parks and Recreation Department has always heavily relied on usage of all the Katonah/Lewisboro School District gymnasiums in order to provide our basketball programming. At this time the school district is unable to commit any indoor space to us as they continue to re-evaluate outside group usage of their facilities. They do consider our department and the participants we serve as an outside group even though we serve the same populations. Understand that prices, grades/teams and practices could all change as life continues to change during this pandemic for all of us. We will keep you informed of any necessary changes.

John Jay Travel Youth Basketball Program is a competitive basketball program sponsored by Lewisboro Parks & Rec. We are dedicated to building each and every player's confidence and providing them with the drills and discipline necessary to improve their skills on the court.

All teams will be formed through tryouts. Teams will either play in the Winter Super League at The Hardscrabble Club in Brewster, NY or in Tri-County Basketball League (TCBL), if available this winter due to COVID restrictions. TCBL games are played in school gyms around the area.

Both the Winter Super League and TCBL are competitive basketball leagues. Rosters will be tight to allow coaches the opportunity to manage playing time to field a competitive team. There may be A & B teams for age groups with enough interest. Playing time will be "fair, but not equal" with the goal being to put every player in a competitively appropriate situation which affords the team the best chance to win.

4th - 6th grade travel players (7th-8th TBD due to Modified Basketball) will also be required to participate in the Lewisboro Rec Basketball program. The Recreational level league is based on skill development and team building to offer all levels of players the opportunity to play equally in a fun environment. Travel players are required to participate in order to further their development working on skills, sharing the basketball, and helping all the players in our programs improve.
