TCMS Installs New Prez, Awards "First a Physician" Award
The Twin Cities Medical Society has installed Matthew Hunt, MD, as its 2017 president and awarded Ken Kephart, MD, with the "First a Physician" Award, which recognizes a physician for effective leadership, involvement in improving public health, or policy and/or legislative advocacy resulting in a positive impact on the practice of medicine or a healthier community. Hunt is an associate professor, program director, Neurosurgery Residency Program, and co-director, Joint Orthopedic/Neurosurgery Spine Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Kephart currently serves as medical director of Honoring Choices Minnesota.
New Employment Contracting Resources Available
The MMA has posted new resources for physicians that will help them know what to expect, and how to approach some common terms, pitfalls and opportunities in physician contracts. Specifically, the resources include common components in a contract, frequently asked questions on restrictive covenants, and the dos and don'ts of negotiating. Click here for more information. 
Ideas Wanted for 2017 Annual Conference
The MMA's 2017 Annual Conference is scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center. The conference will include a combination of education, policy discussions and camaraderie. We want to hear what you are looking for! Submit your session ideas for consideration by the Annual Conference Planning Committee before Feb. 28.
