On Monday, we celebrated all things Betty with cake, cupcakes, decorations, adoptions specials, raffles and more! We hosted a fundraiser in conjunction with what would have been her 100th birthday, so that supporters everywhere could donate in her honor and memory.

Well... We still can't quite believe it.... & we think Betty would be so proud.
In just this one day, thanks to the generosity of our community and beyond, we were able to raise over $22,000 for our shelter pets...all in her honor and memory!

Not only did we blow our fundraising goal out of the water - but 26 shelter animals found their very own HOMES, thanks to those who considered adoption and helped to honor Betty White event more!

The Joys of Bathtime!
Thanks to a recently award grant of nearly $24,000 from Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, we were able to give a much needed facelift to our dog bathing station. The previous set up was made up of (a lot) of concrete and limited accessibility. Slippery steps for the dogs to enter, a small bathing space (see photo below - that's our staff member inside the tub!), and a hose that essentially gave us a bath at the same time...it was time for something new.
Check out the pics of our fantastic NEW tub set up, that even includes a ramp that makes it a much less stressful experience for the dogs!
Thank you GHACF for all of your continued support!
*stay tuned for some other updates to the shelter that will also be made
possible by these grant dollars!*

HONORING PEOPLE & PETS - ALL YEAR!
A Tribute to our Harbor Heroes - Every Dollar Makes an Impact!
Thanks to our committed group of monthly donors, who generously donate anywhere between $5 to $250 each month, over $34,000 in contributions helped ensure our shelter's work can be fulfilled to the best of our ability this past year. Its the volume of like-minded donors that collectively make an impressive impact on funding our mission!

We are SO grateful for your generosity in investing in Harbor this way!

If giving back in a new way was part of your New Year's resolution, we invite you to join our Harbor Heroes program! Donations of ANY amount on a monthly basis make an impact - begin making your impact today!
Whether you're honoring a pet or person, kennel sponsorships are a wonderful way to pay tribute while supporting our shelter pets year-round!
Plaques are personalized by you and will be honored from January 31 to December 31. Sponsored spaces fund medical care, spay/neuter, keep our facility functioning, ensure we have caregivers for our homeless pets and more!
ADOPTIONS & MORE!
*Animals that are euthanized were either behaviorally unsafe, or suffering medically. Release to feral colony is for cats that are healthy and have a place on this earth, but would be unsuccessful indoors in a home. Transferred out means animals were transported into the care of another shelter group. Return to owner means we were able to reunite a lost pet with their family. If there are ever any questions about animal stats, don't hesitate to reach out!
PET PJ PARTIES ARE BACK!
This year we will be featuring new movies with an extended age range!
This paw-tastic event is appropriate for ages 5 to 14 and includes adoptable animal interactions, pizza dinner, and an animal-themed movie (changes monthly) with popcorn! Children are invited to wear their pajamas, bring a sleeping bag and pillow, and be ready for some animal-themed fun!
Parents, this is a drop-off event– so drop your kids off at 5:30; pick them up at 9 p.m. — and enjoy your night off! (Date night, anyone?)The cost is $30 for the first child, and $15 off your total order if you register more than one!
Movie Dates: January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15, May 20.

HARBOR HUMANE'S
TECH NEEDS WISH LIST!
Harbor is grateful for the incredible partnership with The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation! The Wish List allows community members and donors to easily see the wants and needs of local nonprofits, while the Foundation helps us share with the community!

Harbor is wishing for help with some new and updated technology tools like laptops, tablets and speakers. These tools would help us streamline our work here, provide ample music and even e-books for animal enrichment, and just do even better for our shelter pets in need! You can opt to support us by funding one, or all, of these items included in our list. Every little bit helps!
Email us with questions or for more information!
Ensure a loving, healthy environment for the many pets we will benefit in the future by including Harbor Humane Society in your estate and overall planned giving.
By making a planned contribution, you will help support and promote the work of HHS, and benefit our animals by providing them a second chance at life and love.
Interested in discussing planned giving options? Email us!
Thanks for tuning into our Shelter Tails updates!
