OUR FALL LUNCHEON IS LESS THAN ONE WEEK AWAY!

Seats are nearly sold out for our Annual Fall Luncheon on October 10—but there’s still time to join us for an afternoon of hope, healing, and collective impact.

We’re honored to welcome April Hernandez Castillo as our keynote speaker. An author, actress, and survivor, April’s powerful memoir Embracing Me chronicles her journey through intimate partner violence as a teen—illuminating the path from trauma to transformation. Her story, told with candor and humor, reminds us that every voice matters and every story can spark change.

Can’t attend? You can still stand with survivors. Make a gift or share our mission—your support helps survivors and families across Orange County.

EVERY STORY MATTERS,

ESPECIALLY THE ONES WE DON'T HEAR

In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, we’re highlighting an important and often overlooked connection: the link between relationship violence and suicide. Survivors of abuse often suffer in silence, trapped by fear and shame. For some, the overwhelming pain leads them to believe that disappearing is the only way out. But suicide prevention begins with safety listening, believing, and offering unwavering support to those who are hurting.

Don’t miss our blog this month where we explore how we can help break the silence and provide hope for those in need.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT:
National Charity League's Newport Beach Chapter Brings Teens & Moms Together to #SHINETHELIGHT

Teens and moms from the Newport Beach Chapter of the National Charity League helped us kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month this week by volunteering at our #SHINETHELIGHT Walking Vigil at Lions Park in Costa Mesa. For the first time, community members helped set up the vigil, as NCL volunteers placed luminaries and story panels along the vigil’s pathway, each one honoring the journey of a survivor or remembering a life lost. NCL volunteers helped created a space for reflection, healing, and transformation.

NCL has long supported Human Options at our residential sites, and this new role deepens their commitment. Moms and teens worked side by side to shine the light on relationship violence in Orange County and tell a story of healing and hope. Special thanks to Stephanie Thorp for organizing the volunteers and helping bring this vision to life.

Want to get involved? We’re seeking volunteers for upcoming vigils:

October 21: Heritage Park in Irvine

October 30: Centennial Park in Santa Ana
