As experts in leadership development with a strong interest in the intersection of neuroscience and technology, we’re excited about the transformative opportunities Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are creating for today’s executives. While the future of AI is exciting, there are many immediate and tangible benefits to be gained from AI today that weren’t available even a short while ago. That’s why we’re dedicating our newsletter to exploring the synergy between human intelligence and artificial intelligence this month.
To kick things off, I’m sharing my Top 10 use cases for readily available AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot for busy executives. If you’re not using AI regularly throughout your day, you might be missing out on some game-changing ways to save time, boost effectiveness, and simplify your work.
Without further ado, here are my top ten recommendations.

AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TLG CONSULTANT, Josh Turknett, MD
What makes the idea of augmenting human intelligence with AI exciting?
One of the things that's most interesting to me, the thing that has been my primary mission for a while now, is how we use our understanding of the brain and cognitive neuroscience to release the potential that's in everybody's mind. That every brain gives to every single human. The lens I look at this all through is “How can we use this tremendous tool for releasing human potential and augmenting human intelligence?” That for me is the most exciting thing about it. That's what I spend a lot of time thinking about and exploring in my own life - what are the different ways we can use this technology to release our potential? To make our lives better and in that way, able to become more effective at the things that we want to do and the things we love to do.
I think a lot of people's experience who are using it quite often find that it allows them to focus on the most enjoyable parts of their work. It can also relieve you of some of the more mundane stuff that takes up more time than you'd like. That too is an important way it can enhance intelligence - by freeing up our mind to spend more time on things that we care about rather than what's called intellectual drudgery.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: Michael Lawrence, Fox Factory
What led you to seek out leadership development? TLG?
We have a large population of mid-level leaders, senior leaders, and we wanted to create something that we could share across the entire organization. I think everybody’s had leadership training in some form or fashion, but we really wanted to standardize what that learning looked like across the board. So where Turknett came into that fold was really in the process of looking at our executive leadership, and beginning to create a program that we could use to help them grow. As much as I love what I do, it’d be kind of hard for me to tell my C-suite and my VPs, “this is what you should be doing.” So getting someone outside of the organization that has a wealth of knowledge and information and being able to use that coaching body, use the content that was available professionally, that’s where our connection came in.

Great Leaders Live Like Drug Addicts: How to Lead Like Your Life Depends on It
During treatment for drug addiction, Michael Brody-Waite learned three principles that became the difference between life and death:
- Practice rigorous authenticity
- Surrender the outcome
- Do uncomfortable work
Leaving rehab, Michael entered the workplace where he was shocked to see most business leaders doing what he had been taught would kill him. He began to see striking similarities between drug addiction and what he calls “mask addiction.” Instead of chasing drugs, leaders were chasing professional, financial, and social success from behind a mask—to the detriment of themselves and the people around them. Thanks to his recovery, Michael’s three principles gave him an unlikely competitive advantage throughout his career, resulting in a level of success unexpected for a “drug addict.”

Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI
From Wharton professor and author of the popular One Useful Thing Substack newsletter Ethan Mollick comes the definitive playbook for working, learning, and living in the new age of AI.
Something new entered our world in November 2022 — the first general purpose AI that could pass for a human and do the kinds of creative, innovative work that only humans could do previously. Wharton professor Ethan Mollick immediately understood what ChatGPT meant: after millions of years on our own, humans had developed a kind of co-intelligence that could augment, or even replace, human thinking. Through his writing, speaking, and teaching, Mollick has become one of the most prominent and provocative explainers of AI, focusing on the practical aspects of how these new tools for thought can transform our world.
In Co-Intelligence, Mollick urges us to engage with AI as co-worker, co-teacher, and coach. He assesses its profound impact on business and education, using dozens of real-time examples of AI in action. Co-Intelligence shows what it means to think and work together with smart machines, and why it's imperative that we master that skill.
