ADOPTIONS

Because of your ongoing love and support for animals in need, over 2,150 shelter pets were adopted from Humane Pennsylvania in 2022!

No matter the circumstance, our staff weathered the storm and worked hard this year to give the animals in our care a second chance!

Thank you for helping us build the best community anywhere to be an animal!

SPIKE'S PET PANTRY

In 2022, Spike's Pet Pantry distributed over 148,000 lbs. of food, supplies, and litter to families and organizations in need.

Thank you to every individual, corporation, and business that donated to Spike's Pet Pantry this year! Without you, we couldn't have supported as many people and pets during their time of need.

HEALTHY PETS INITIATIVE

When our Healthy Pets Initiative team wasn't busy distributing tons of pet food (quite literally), they were vaccinating, microchipping, and providing wellness resources to thousands of animals in our community through our Pay-What-You-Can Clinics and Affordable Walk-In Clinics throughout Berks and Lancaster Counties.

In 2022, our Healthy Pets Initiative

  • served over 1,400 pets at our Affordable Walk-In Clinics.
  • provided more than 2,400 pets with vaccine and microchip services at our Pay-What-You-Can Clinics.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR

FOSTERS & VOLUNTEERS

We'd like to give a very special "THANK YOU" to our volunteers and fosters who gave thousands of hours of their time to our organization this year!

Our staff does an incredible job but they wouldn't be able to do it all without the help of our pawsome volunteers! Whether it's fostering kittens, assisting with shelter work, walking dogs, stuffing envelopes, collecting donations, or simply anything at all, our volunteers always answer the call!

DONATE NOW

Now is the time to donate to the animals currently in our care and those that will come to us in 2023.

We rely on donations to support the services offered to the animals in our care and community.

Humane Pennsylvania 2022 Year In Review

Written by: Humane Pennsylvania CEO & President, Karel Minor

"Without people, you're nothing." This quote by the late, great Joe Strummer hangs on the wall of Humane PA's conference room along with our Mission Statement. It's a reminder that while Humane Pennsylvania exists to help animals in need, we can only do that through people's assistance, partnership, and support. It's also a reason for concern on the horizon and why this year's review will look back a little further than usual.

Not too long ago, the universal sentiment- and it's still all too common today- is that people were the primary problem facing animals. Animal welfare was suspicious, barrier erecting, and often openly hostile toward the public. Adopters were mercilessly grilled, those asking for help were judged by inconsistent and arbitrary standards, and facts and data had no place in a world that ran on feelings and personal opinions. It was a good place for people to engage, and it certainly wasn't a good place for animals.

Thankfully, this has started to change to benefit animals and those who want to help them. Humane PA has been a leader in promoting a model of services that views people as the solution to the problems facing animals...
