High-quality education for children in families of refugees in Malaysia

HFUSA’s VP of Human Development, Waleed Ahmad, is in Malaysia this week and sent us photos (and hellos) from the students and staff. 

HF operates 5 schools called Learning Centers under UNHCR, the UN’s refugee agency. The schools provide education for children of families who are refugees from other countries now living in Malaysia.

The HF Ghulam Hussain Ayaz Learning Center (GHALC) Cheras Prima in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia educates 40 children from Pre-K to 6th grade, as well as those pursuing their International General Certificate of Secondary Education. Waleed is pictured second from left in the center photo.

The GHALC Kalang, also in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia serves 146 students. This school educates students from Pre-K to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. Both Learning Centers were established in 2016.
