Congratulations to our Liberia Graduates!

The annual graduation ceremony for the Humanity First Ahmadiyya Vocational College (HF-AVC) in Liberia celebrated 421 students who have completed one of seven career courses. The courses in tailoring, computers, refrigeration & air conditioning and other skills prepare students for jobs and careers. The most popular course this year was driving, a skill that is both personally and professionally useful in Liberia.

Since 2011, HFUSA and HF Liberia have collaboratively run the HF-AVC in the country’s capital, Monrovia. The institute began through a request for help from the then Vice President of Liberia, Joseph Boakai.

HF-AVC has trained almost 4,000 youth in eleven life changing technical & vocational skills needed in the local economy.

The institute is growing, but the existing rented building lacks adequate space for classes and workshops, the ceiling needs repairs, and the electrical wiring does not support heavy loads for technical workshops – which at times results in power outages and damage to critical training equipment.

Liberia is developing rapidly, and students need to build competitive skills in modern facilities. A purpose-built facility will let us create a well-equipped environment for students to learn skills to seek quality jobs. It will be a significant investment in long-term sustainability for the school.

Thanks to a recent gift from an HFUSA donor, we will build this new facility for our students. The planning phase has already begun!
