JAG-K Officers and Staff Attend National Student Leadership Academy in Washington D.C.

Thanks to the support of Gov. Laura Kelly, the Kansas Legislature, schools across the state and our many generous donors, JAG-K is developing the future leaders of Kansas.

One of the highlights of each year is the National Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) in Washington D.C., to which we take our elected officers and select staff for training. In addition to touring the nation’s capitol and meeting with members of the Kansas Congressional delegation and staff, the students participate in training sessions and learn from their peers across the state.

Elected officers who participated in NSLA this year were:

President Charee Moore, Wichita Southeast; Vice President James Kingsbury, Larned; Secretary, Xavier Aquino, Shawnee Mission North; Parliamentarian Laila Horton, Junction City, Landon Kreifels, Augusta, Regional Vice President; Mycah Benton, Basehor-Linwood, Regional Vice President; Hayden Brown, Hiawatha, Regional Vice President.

As the year comes to a close, we invite you to help train more future leaders of Kansas. See below how you can contribute to the mission of JAG-K.

JAG-K Seeks End-of-Year Donations

It's because of generous donors like you that JAG-K is able to help approximately 6,000 students stay on track for graduation, develop employability skills and explore careers which will bolster the workforce of the state.

An example of how JAG-K helps students prepare for success is James Kingsbury, a Larned High School student whose father passed away when James was 12 years old. His experience in our program was the subject of a recent feature article on the Kansas Department of Education website.

“This program has definitely changed his life,” Larned JAG-K Career Specialist Israel Hagerman said about Kingsbury in the article. “He’s a leader in our school, in JAG, at the state level. To see where he was as a sophomore to where he is now as a senior is amazing.”

Click to read more about Kingsbury’s experience in JAG-K.

Due in large part to the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations across Kansas, stories like Kingsbury's are taking place every day.

As we approach the end of 2023, please join us by making a tax-deductible donation to JAG-K to make these success stories even more common?
