September 2022 E-Newsletter

September is National Hunger Action Month

Hunger Action Month is a time for communities to take action against food insecurity. If you or someone you know is food insecure, the Alameda County Community Food Bank can connect you to different food sources – from monthly benefits from CalFresh to help you buy groceries to home-delivered groceries.

They are also focusing efforts this month on the upcoming election on November 8th and steps we can all take now to help eliminate hunger at the polls.

Take Action

Prepare for Disasters and Protect Your Legacy

National Preparedness Month is recognized each September to promote family and community disaster and emergency planning. This year's theme is "A Lasting Legacy" to highlight the importance of protecting the life you've built now and preparing future generations to respond to emergencies.

To help you plan for the unexpected, Eden I&R provides a full range of disaster preparedness resources and training, including Personal Preparedness, Agency Preparedness, and Workplace Violence/Active Shooter. Contact our Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Lars Eric Holm at 510-727-9516 or leholm@edenir.org to schedule a training for your community group.

For case/care management, staff connected the two to Covenant House of California and Abode Service’s Project Independence. Beyond Emancipation’s Transitional Housing was also provided.
