Major Show Steer and Heifer Validation 

Major Show Steer and Heifer Validation will be Monday June 27, 2022 from 7:00 am to noon at the Hunt County Fair Grounds. Steer tags were pre-purchased in April. Any 4-H member planning to validate heifers must contact the Extension Office by June 15 and bring original registration papers for uploading. Cost is $16 per heifer.


State Fair Lamb and Goat Validation


Validation for State Fair Lambs and Goats will be held Monday June 27, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Hunt County Fair Grounds. Tags were purchased in April for those validating.

2022 Texas 4-H Shooting Sports State Games

Registration will be a two step process:

Step one: Register on 4Honline: May 13th - June 20th, 2022

Step two: Register on iclays scheduling program: May 25th - June 20th 2022

Please join us for "Micro Mysteries" Stem Camp July 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th, & 28th from 9:30 am to noon. Cost will be $30 for camp or $5. per day for drop in. Non 4-H members are welcome, the cost for non 4-H members will be $40 for camp or $7 per day drop in. Must pre register @[email protected]. For questions please call 903-455-9885.

The 2nd Annual Cooperative Extension Program Photography Contest is accepting entries now. *Note, this is not the State 4-H Photography Contest. Texas Farm Bureau Student Success Series

Jumpstart 


Any student entering 8th grade in August 2022 is eligible to participate. Students will:

  • Become familiar with Texas Farm Bureau
  • Learn more information about Texas agriculture through interactive modules
  • Grow leadership skills

Registration will be available June 1 – Sept. 15.

Online modules must be completed by Oct. 31.

Any student entering 9th grade in August 2022 is eligible to participate. Students will:

  • Learn more about Texas Farm Bureau
  • Be challenged to create a plan for leaving a legacy
  • Explore career opportunities and trends
  • Be engaged in personal and professional etiquette

Registration will be available June 1 – Sept. 15.

Online modules must be completed by Oct. 31.

Any student entering 12th grade in August 2022 is eligible to participate. Students will:

  • Grow public speaking and leadership skills
  • Learn more about the free enterprise system
  • Hear from engaging motivational speakers
  • Dive deeper into social media and digital advocacy efforts

Registration will be available June 1 – July 5.

There is an $80 registration fee for the event.

Thrive will be held Aug. 5-7 in Waco at TFB’s Conference and Training Center.

Registration is first-come, first-served and will be capped at 150 students.

The Community Service Project focuses on outreach projects in our county.

Applications for the 2022-2023 STEM Ambassadors will open on July 1 and close July 31, 2022A promotional video overview of the team can be viewed here.

 

Eligibility for NEW Members

·        Be in the 9th – 12th grade (as of September 1, 2022).

·        Complete and submit application by July 31, 2022.

·        Have a willingness to learn about and promote STEM.

·        Attend a mandatory virtual orientation along with his/her parents/guardians on August 30 at 7 PM.

·        Attend the mandatory fall and spring in-person meetings (dates will be listed in the application).

·        Be willing to work collaboratively on a team with other youth and adults.

·        Be responsive and engaged in team communications.

·        Share knowledge and skills with others.

·        Not serving on the 2022-23 Texas 4-H Council.

Applicants will need to create a simple profile on Submittable to complete the application.  The application requires (among other details) several written narratives, a 2–3-minute personal video narrative, as well as two letters of recommendations. Candidates are encouraged to begin work on the latter two as soon as possible. Texas A_M Meat Judging Camp.png

You are invited to the 2022 Texas Aggie Meat Judging Camp July 21-23. This year will be a fun filled 2½ days of meat judging with the 2022 Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team, as well as an exciting tour of Kyle Field on Friday morning. They will provide lodging and meals for campers and have plenty of product (beef, lamb and pork) to practice on. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jennifer Wyle. Roundup Community Service Project
 
Each year, Texas 4-H Council selects a community service project to complete in hopes of giving back, one of the primary pillars of 4-H. This year, they selected Non-Slip Socks for the Elderly. June 8-9, during Roundup, from 10AM-3PM, we will be assembling and painting non-stick socks for BCS nursing homes. Clubs and counties are encouraged to bring NEW crew cut socks to Roundup and participate in this project! More details to come but start gathering those socks now! 

COUNTY PROJECT COMPLETION FORMS


Project completion forms allow members to be recognized annual at the Hunt County 4-H Banquet. Members may submit a completion form for any project done during this 4-H year that is a Texas 4-H approved project. See HERE for a complete list.

 We will have 6 events – you may drop your lowest score or choose not to participate in 1 event.

The events are:

Archery, Riflery (.22), Kayaking, Fishing, Biologist Skills, Outdoor Skills

 PRIZES: Team 1st-3rd Junior/Intermediate/Senior

Individual 1st – 5th Junior/Intermediate/Senior

 Participants MUST be currently enrolled in 4-H in your County through 4-H Online.

 Age Divisions – (as of 2021-2022 school year)

Junior – 8 yrs. old AND in 3rd grade through 5th grade

Intermediate 6th grade through 8th grade

Senior – 9th grade through 12th grade

 Teams – Members are welcome to move up into the next age division to make a team.
