State Fair of Texas
From the State Fair of Texas themselves "It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the State Fair of Texas will not open for the 2020 season. Our mission at the Fair is to celebrate all things Texan, and with that comes...being friendly, lending a helping hand, and looking out for others. This year, those essential traits of being a Texan matter more than ever. We must take care of our neighbors and loved ones.
The Fair’s commitment to our nonprofit mission of promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement will continue. In addition, we commit to maintaining as many participation opportunities as possible. We know you have worked hard in anticipation for the 2020 Fair, so we are determined to find ways to support a modified livestock show – we appreciate your patience and understanding, please stay tuned for more details in the coming future.
We have been around for 134 years and though we may not see each other in person this year, we can promise you we will be counting down the days until we can celebrate in 2021 and the many State Fair’s ahead of us." Click here for The State Fair of Texas Livestock Exhibitors Facebook page!

Zoom Like a Pro - from Katie Hughes, Greenville 4-H
It seems like every week now we find ourselves in a Zoom Meeting for one thing or another and most 4-H meetings are currently virtual. Greenville 4-H member Katie Hughes has put tother a short video to help you use proper etiquette when "Zooming!"

Catch Up on What Went Down at
Virtual LEAD Academy
Did you miss out on our virtual LEAD Academy workshops held earlier this month? Topics like how to fill out the FASFA, how to make meals in your dorm room, and what it's like being a Texas 4-H STEM Ambassador await you in the session recordings available by clicking here !
Virtual Texas 4-H Congress
While we can't learn about the Texas Government with a couple hundred 4-H youth in Austin this summer, we CAN learn virtually from a Texas Congressional member, a Lobbyist, and a Governmental Staffer on Facebook Live! We can also learn about what a bill is, how to write a bill, and what the Press Corps and Lobbyist positions look like for the 2022 Texas 4-H Congress in our zoom sessions led by Texas 4-H Council members and 4-H faculty! Even better - we CAN review bills written by 4-H youth that had already been submitted for the 2020 Congress. Additionally, if you or your 4-H'ers were Governor for a day, what would YOU support?

With that said...encourage your 4-H families to join us on Facebook Live Monday July 13th, Tuesday July 14th, and Wednesday July 15th at 10 AM on the Texas 4-H Facebook Page for live interviews with leaders in our Texas government as mentioned above. What have your 4-H youth always wanted to ask someone who works in our Texas government? You and your 4-H'ers can submit the questions we will actually ask in the live Interviews!
New Project Interest - Dairy Goat
There has been interest in starting a Dairy Goat 101 project in Hunt County. Project topics would include anatomy, herd health, nutrition, management, milk, etc.. It will not cover how to show dairy goats since the Hunt County Fair does not offer it.

If interested in the new project email Lonnie Biehl at [email protected] or [email protected]! If there is enough interest the project will be started county wide this fall!
Hunt County Awards Banquet/Recognition Event

With changes happening regularly affecting group gatherings, the Hunt County 4-H Council is planning just how this year's County 4-H Awards Banquet will be held. We WILL be recognizing all members who completed project completion forms and county award winners! We simply do not know when or exactly how at this time. If YOU have a great IDEA, please email [email protected] and share your ideas, or let your club's county council representatives know!
