Parents! As home school teachers you have been doing one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. You deserve the recognition and accolades for Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you!

"Being a teacher is the highest privilege. Having a teacher is the Best Blessing."  ~ Unknown

Our HCMS teachers continue to come up with creative and innovative lessons and activities to motivate our Eagles and engage them in the best online distance learning experiences. From virtually hosting authors and scientists to creating and posting YouTube math videos, to creating e-book family and passion projects or to reading to students and to creating robots, they go above and beyond on a daily basis.

Let's shower our HCMS teachers with notes of gratitude and thanks! In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week 2020, please click on the link below to send a message of appreciation for our teachers:

As we move into week six of the fourth quarter, we have only four more weeks to go until the end of the school year. Please check your student's assignments in Canvas and make sure that he/she is on track. HCMS teachers and paraprofessionals do whatever it takes to help the students succeed! They have been holding countless BBB sessions of tutoring and extra help at various times of the morning and afternoon. They stop at nothing to ensure that each and every student is focused, and is actively participating in their learning.

I can't hide my excitement as we look forward to meeting our future 6th grade Eagles and their parents during the 2020-2021 Rising Sixth Grade Virtual HCMS Orientation scheduled for Wednesday, 5/6 , and Thursday, 5/7. Please see the information below.

We hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter which contains messages of thanks from our students to the essential workers as well as very important information and resources, and photos from the various spirit days and virtual classes.

I am so proud of our teachers, staff, parents and students for working so hard and making the best out of this experience. Everyone continues to excel no matter what!

Your Proud Principal,

Joumana Moukaddam

Students of the Week!

As we move to distance learning, we want to highlight as many students each week for their successes as we can, so we'll be changing up our Students of the Week to include all nominees from teachers:
  • Sabrina Barroso: Sabrina has been rocking distance learning. She's been getting all of her assignments finished, asking questions when she has them, and showing she's been reading. She has really found a way to shine, even from a distance. -Ms. Cole
  • Abigail Cramer: Abigail Cramer is nominated for student of the week for her hard work and dedication. She has consistently been on top of her assignments and makes sure to reach out to me if she doesn't understand something or needs to complete an assignment! Thank you for your dedication during distance learning! -Mrs. Lebron
  • Nicole Petrovic Bastos: Nicole has put forth 100% effort as we went to distance learning, even with technical issues. She has a positive outlook and is continuing to do her best work. Proud of you, Nicole! -Ms. Cecil
  • Shanelle Han: Shanelle has been keeping up with her school work and joining our live BBB sessions. She has asked some impressive and thoughtful questions to our guest speakers! -Ms. Renuart
  • Launne Lanoix: Launne is very determined and always gives me her best. She is a hard worker and shows perseverance. -Mr. Baptiste
  • Morgan McCarthy: Morgan really stepped it up this week. She knew that she was struggling with some topics in Geometry so she attended tutoring every day and asked a lot of questions. As a result she got an A on her test!! Way to go Morgan! :) -Ms. Daniels
  • Enzo Marchi: Enzo has done a fantastic job with digital/distance learning so far. He is extremely responsible with staying on top of all of his assignments, and he is always staying in communication with his teachers. Keep it up, Enzo! -Ms. Chacon
  • Ibrahim Kaddoura: Ibrahim rocked week 4 of Distance Learning! He is keeping up with his Edpuzzles (with great scores) and working hard to master his Khan Academy assignments! I am so proud of how hard he is working at home! -Ms. Pratt
  • Victoria Marin: Victoria Marin is being recognized for her excellence! She is a great student and has consistently turned in all of her assignments during the length of our distance learning. She deeply cares about her peers and has joined almost every virtual conference our class has had. She is a very responsible student and has a bright future ahead of her. -Mr. Johnson
  • Bailey Davie: Bailey has been sending kind emails to myself and some other teachers during distance learning. As this is such a tough time not being able to see students, these emails have brightened my day and just show what a wonderful heart Bailey has. -Mrs. Moye

School Principal's Day!

Last Friday was National School Principals' Day, and all of us at Hunter's Creek Middle School want to use this opportunity to thank Ms. Moukaddam for being the biggest and most true advocate of HCMS. Thank you for your tireless work, your passion, and your constant support of all Eagles, faculty/staff and students!

Student Earth Day Projects (made at home)

Rachel Cuna (8th grade)
Rachel used recycled materials to create this Earth Day project. The materials she used in this project were the top part of a water bottle, an aluminum can tab thing, paper, wood, and cardboard for the mum flower thing in the corner.

Aishwarya Ganapathy (8th grade)
Aishwarya created this Earth Day reminder with items found around her house.

Gabi Santos
Gabi's tree has 5 recyclable items in its construction. The "pot" is made of a juice carton, the "trunk" is made of a paper towel roll, the "leaves" are made of bubble wrap that she painted, the "world" is made of an old styrofoam ball, and the second half of the trunk is made of an old water bottle (the yellow part in the top picture).
