December 5th Recap
As Coach Giny Calderon stated in an earlier email, her girls played extremely well on Monday afternoon. In the second round of the county volleyball playoffs, the Lady Eagles knocked off Timber Springs in two straight games, 25-16 and 25-3. Coach Calderon’s squad travels to Avalon MS on Wednesday afternoon for a quarter-final round match.
First year coach, Nick Onderick, did a wonderful job with his boys volleyball team this season. Coach Nick was undefeated in the regular season, and faced a scrappy Pershing K-8 team, just narrowly coming up short in a tie-breaking third game, 15-12. The HCMS boys dropped game one, 20-25, but blew out Pershing in game two, 25-9. Congrats to both coaches and teams on great seasons… And good luck to our Lady Eagles against Avalon!
December 7th Recap
The Lady Eagles’ volleyball season came to an end on Wednesday evening at Avalon MS. Coach Giny Calderon’s girls won Game 1, 25-22, dropped Game 2, 23-25, and lost the tiebreaker 9-15 in quarter-final action. In Coach Calderon’s first season at the helm, the Lady Eagles had an impressive volleyball season with a final overall record of 7-1. Thanks to Coach Giny & Coach Nick for all their hard work with our student-athletes.
And thanks again to Amy Pratt, Anthony D’orsa, Daphnie Nunez, & Scheryll Murray for stepping up to help run our home volleyball games – you are much appreciated!
Go Eagles!
