The Hunterdon County Freeholder Board received the good news of ‘no findings’ in the 2016 Annual Audit recently completed by the County’s Independent Auditor.
Freeholder Matt Holt, the Board’s liaison for the Finance Department, stated, “Over the past few years, we had a goal of bringing a business-like approach to financial operations in the county.
The clean bill of health in the audit is proof that the dedication to sound financial controls and record keeping and great attention to detail by the Finance Office and the County operations as a whole, have achieved that goal.”
Holt continued, “In turn, there are real results for taxpayers. The financial controls and business-like approach have enabled the Freeholders to put forward a budget this year with both no spending increase and no county tax rate increase for the fourth consecutive year.”
