Vol. 18 - 2018

Director Holt
Named 1st Vice Chair
Of Transportation
Planning Authority

Hunterdon County Freeholder Matthew Holt was elected First Vice-Chair of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) Board of Trustees at the Jan. 22 meeting.

NJTPA Board membership is an uncompensated position.

"The NJTPA is responsible for coordinating regional transportation planning efforts and the allocation of federal funding that is critical to Hunterdon County’s road networks. So it is most important for our County to have a seat at the table. I thank my fellow Board members for electing me to this leadership position and look forward to continuing this important work.”

Sheriff Brown Warns Residents
Of Jury Scam Fraud
On January 10th, Sheriff Fred Brown was made aware of several phone calls being made to residents with threats of potential arrest for failure to appear at court via jury summons, unless fines were paid immediately.

The scam artist would claim to be from a Sheriff’s Office, a fake phone number to the office was given, with instructions to purchase a pre-paid debit card for payment of fines and to call the Sheriff back, eliminating the arrest warrant.

Freeholder John E. Lanza, Sheriff's Office Liaison, commended Sheriff Brown for his quick action to warn Hunterdon County residents about the jury scam. Freeholder Lanza said, “Sheriff Brown not only warned potential victims, he was instrumental in assisting residents who had already been contacted and halted transactions that were already underway. We are grateful for his assistance in notifying Hunterdon County residents of the dangers from this scam.”

Heron Glen Receives Highest
Environmental Award
Hunterdon County’s Heron Glen Golf Course is the first and only Eastern U.S. KemperSports managed property to reach the highest environmental designation of a certified ‘Green to a Tee’ Level III facility. With 125 golf courses under KemperSports direction, Heron Glen is one of only three to reach this level of accreditation.

“We are thrilled to offer the one of the finest public golf courses in the state to our residents,” said Hunterdon County Freeholder John W. King. “The fact that the golf course grounds have achieved a high level of environmental stewardship is very much in line with the mission to maintain and improve the quality of life in Hunterdon County.”
