Van Doren Public Service Announcement Reminder For Veterans Tax Exemption
Continuing the Freeholder Board’s ‘Leave No Veteran Behind’ campaign, Board Director Shaun C. Van Doren has issued a public service announcement video reminding Veterans to take advantage of the $6000 state income tax exemption when filing their 2019 taxes.

In the video, Van Doren tells Veterans, “It is most important to note that unlike many other Veterans benefits, the state income tax exemption is available for all Veterans, no matter when or where you served.”

Hunterdon Freeholders Approve NJ Historic Trust Grant For Historic Courthouse Improvements
The Hunterdon County Freeholder Board, on February 18th, approved an agreement with the New Jersey Historic Trust for a $747,000 grant, which the County will match, for restoration and renovations to the Courthouse complex.

Freeholder John Lanza, liaison for the Cultural and Heritage Commission, stated, “The Courthouse, located prominently and dominating Flemington’s Main Street, anchors the downtown business and historic district and is integral to the identity of Hunterdon County.

Ride For Freedom Event,
Waive Park Fees To Support Veterans
The Patriotic motorcycle group ‘Rolling Thunder’ will hold their 33 rd nationwide ‘Ride For Freedom,’ Sunday, May 24 th , at the South County 4H fairgrounds for a day of food, speakers, and musical tributes to veterans, following an escorted/planned ride to pass by the Historic Washington Crossing Park.

Freeholder Board Deputy Director and Veterans’ Liaison Susan J. Soloway, at a recent Board meeting, said, “Rolling Thunder is a truly non-profit group that pays no compensation to staff or officers – all their funds go towards Veterans’ assistance. The Freeholder Board agreed to waive the small cost to the County for the event, which is expected to boost County tourism.”

County Health Department: COVID-19 Risk Low In NJ, But State Experiencing High Flu Activity

Freeholder Board Deputy Director Sue Soloway, the liaison for the Health Department, reported at the February 18th meeting that the County Health Department continues to monitor information on the coronavirus, which now has a name; COVID-19.

As the NJ Department of Health continues to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19), websites and resources are available.
