Freeholder Task Force To Make
In Depth Study Of Hunterdon Transportation System 
Hunterdon County Freeholder Director Suzanne Lagay has announced the formation of a County Transportation System Task Force, that she will co-chair with Freeholder Sue Soloway, the Board’s liaison for the Department of Human Services, and will include Tara Shepherd, Executive Director of GoHunterdon.

Lagay explained that the task force will make a serious examination of all facets of the transportation system in Hunterdon County, including but not limited to the Link Bus program overseen by the County’s Department of Human Services.

Freeholder Sue Soloway is jumping right into her new role by expressing her willingness to participate in the study, stating, “I look forward to participating in this analysis and am particularly interested in whether the current system is efficient and economical.”

Begin 2019 Preserving 175 More Farmland Acres
The Hunterdon County Board of Freeholders, on January 22 nd , authorized the preservation of three farm properties in the County totaling 175 acres, which, after the closings, will bring the County’s total acreage preserved to over 33,000.

Freeholder Matt Holt, the Board’s liaison to the Department of Planning and Land Use, stated at the meeting, “Farmland and open space preservation is vital to maintaining Hunterdon County’s unique and special character. And, as Freeholder Director Suzanne Lagay noted in her address at the Re-organization meeting, this Board will continue to prioritize those preservation efforts in 2019.

County DPW Successfully Met Challenges During 2018 Storm Events

March 2018 Storms The Greatest Challenge
The County’s DPW response to storm events in 2018 can be measured in the significant amount of gallons, tons, and overtime hours listed in the Department’s annual report, Freeholder Shaun Van Doren, the Board’s liaison for the Department of Engineering and Public Works, reported at the January 22 nd Freeholder meeting.

Van Doren reported, “Our DPW personnel deserve great recognition from and appreciation by the public for meeting the challenges in responding to storm events in 2018.

Pledging to continue the Hunterdon County Freeholder Board’s “conservative culture of financial controls,” Suzanne Lagay was unanimously elected Director of the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders, at the annual re-organization meeting on January 7th at the Historic Courthouse in Flemington, where longtime Surrogate Susan Hoffman, veteran Freeholder Matt Holt, and new Freeholder Susan Soloway were all sworn into office.
