Q and A with the CCV

On Wednesday, the Center for Career and Vocation hosted a wonderful Q and A with the CCV. Special thanks to the panelists, Ariel Dixon '25, Kailey Hicks '25, and Jake Jeter '25, and all the students who came with great questions.

Student-Athlete Career Development and Networking Workshop

Also on Wednesday, the CCV partnered with Dr. Sara Shoffner, Huntingdon's Faculty Athletic Representative, to host a workshop for student-athletes to learn about networking, hear from former student-athletes about their transition into life beyond student-athlete life, and participate in various career development sessions. Pictured below are members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in attendance at the event.

Madi Haddock '23: From Huntingdon Student Intern to Hired Huntingdon Hawk to Conference Presenter

Today, Madi Haddock '23 will serve on a student success panel at the Alabama Association of College and Employers (AACE) Winter Workshop in Birmingham. The former SGA treasurer and business administration major from Perdido, Alabama was a student workforce development intern for Central AlabamaWorks!. Upon the completion of her Huntingdon degree in November, she was hired full-time as a workforce development coordinator. Prior to attending Huntingdon, she completed an associate's degree from Coastal Alabama Community College.

Students on the Kingswood Campus Activities Board delivered thank you notes of appreciation to members of dining hall staff and auxiliary services. We are grateful for the many men and women in these departments who serve our students every day!

CONGRATULATIONS



Caden Howard '26 of men's track and field set new school indoor records in the long jump and 60m hurdle this past weekend in Birmingham.


Nick Brashear '25 and Jack Haury '24 of Huntingdon wrestling won their individual weight classes at the Wabash Invite Tournament last weekend.


Haleigh Silva '27 and Mary Charles Davis '27 joined Phi Mu this week.

ATHLETICS

Women's Basketball: It's Beat Belhaven Week for the Lady Hawks. Our ladies head to Mississippi tonight for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against the Blazers. We'll host Belhaven Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. in Roland Arena. The JV Lady Hawks will play at home Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.


Men's Basketball: Continuing the Beat Belhaven theme, the Hawks will host the Blazers Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Roland Arena.


Men's Wrestling: The Hawks will take on an in-state foe for the first time Tuesday as they trek to Montevallo to take on the Falcons.


Esports: The Hawks of Huntingdon Esports are back in Drum Theater with a Spring full of competitions. All matches are live streamed @twitch.tv/hchawksesports and team updates are posted on both X/Twitter and Instagram @x.com/HCHawksEsports and @instagram.com/hchawksesports.


CAMPUS MINISTRIES

Chaplain Rhett Butler '13 invites you to join him Tuesday night for TNW at 8:30 p.m. in Ligon Chapel. Our weekly Communion service will take place Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the Jean Rodgers Prayer Chapel.


HOT CHOCOLATE SALE

The Hispanics, Latinx and Friends will be hosting an Abuelita Hot Chocolate Sale on Wednesday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. in the Dining Hall.


ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA INFORMATION MEETING

The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha will host an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 31, at 6:00 p.m. in the Wanda A. Howard BSU Center.


MARDI GRAS PARADE

The men of Lambda Chi Alpha and other organizations on campus will be parading through campus to celebrate Mardi Gras on Thursday, February 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Join the after-party on Top Stage.

CAMPUS RECREATION

Glow in the Dark Flag Football has been rescheduled and will take place Wednesday, January 31, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Charles Lee Field. Sign up using this form.

The Tomberlin Fitness Center is open to all students Monday through Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Wilson Gym is open on Wednesday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for Wednesday Night Hoops.

PANHELLENIC RECRUITMENT COUNSELORS

Huntingdon College Panhellenic has opened the application process for sorority women to serve as Gamma Chi recruitment counselors for 2024. Applications are due February 2.


MISS HUNTINGDON APPLICATIONS

The Office of Student Development is now accepting applications to participate in the 2024 Miss Huntingdon pageant. Applications are due February 2 at 5:00 p.m. Apply here.  


FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT?

If neither your mother or father completed a four-year college or university degree, you are considered a first-generation college student. The Office of Student Development has announced that Huntingdon has been granted a charter to establish a chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha, the nation's premier honor society for first-generation students. If you are a first-generation collegian, please fill out this form to express interest in learning more about this opportunity.
