Thanks to funding from Suffolk County, we are able to offer FREE admission to this dynamic Pride Month kick-off event, Born This Way, presented by the Long Island Pride Festival. From noon to 6pm on Saturday June 4, the event will include a meet-the-artists cocktail party, exhibition viewing, fine art vendors, food, performances, and more!

The Alpern Family Foundation will match gifts to the Life of Our Cinema Campaign made in the month of May, but only if gifts from our community total or exceed $20,000.

So far this month, our campaign has raised $5,300, $1,000 more than yesterday thanks to members who responded to our call for support. With 11 days left in our campaign, we must raise $1,336 a day to secure our matching grant.

Your gift will help us secure this grant and will support four key areas of impact:

CULTURAL IMPACT: CAC presents the widest selection of film and cultural programs for our community. In these times, it is vital to preserve our local arts venues. CAC connects local audiences to film, visual, and performing arts and artists with thousands of screenings and hundreds of special events each year.

SOCIAL IMPACT: CAC serves as an important community center, in our facility—a home away from home for thousands of our neighbors—and in our virtual spaces, we bring people together. CAC hosts conversations that foster empathy and understanding, and works with many community groups to do social good.

EDUCATIONAL IMPACT: CAC’s Film Arts in Education Program supplements curriculum for thousands of public school students, providing local teachers with great experiences for their students to deepen and enhance their learning. CAC also offers workshops and lectures on film creation and history to people of all ages.

ECONOMIC IMPACT: Now that we are fully open, our economic impact can be quite significant. When fully open, CAC activities generate about $7,000,000 in spending in our local economy, annually.* We are an important local employer. We use local vendors whenever possible. There is no economic recovery without arts recovery.

With the majority of our memberships having been extended without fee due to our temporary closure, your annual gift is more important than ever.
