Huron Valley State Bank celebrates another successful year of the "Bank-At-School" program with the students of Spring Mills Elementary. The end of the school year marks the 3rd year of the partnership between both organizations. The students participating in the program enjoyed a pizza party with guest appearance of "Awesome the Pig."

The Bank-At-School program is a student-run bank, located inside of Spring Mills Elementary in Highland, Michigan. Fifth grade students applied and interviewed for positions of the school bank earlier in the year, and are trained for the position of Branch Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, tellers and marketing reps. The tellers handle real banking transactions from students at the deposit only bank. Assistant Branch Manager, Melissa Herron, oversees operations and Customer Service Representative, Suzanne Rolando coaches the 10 student bankers.

"It has been another wonderful year educating the children on money management and good savings skills," said Shelley Dickerson, Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager. "Our partnership with Spring Mills provides workplace experience for students to learn skills in a variety of areas from leadership, marketing, finance and customer service. This also teaches our youth real-life experience interacting with a bank."

"We are proud to be a part of this program," said Randy Muffley, Principal of Spring Mills Elementary. "Our students are acquiring invaluable business and life skills that can only be learned by hands-on experience."

Meet Your Bankers
Nancy Gomez

Nancy Gomez holds the very important position of CSR, Customer Service Representative.  This means she assists our customers daily by opening up accounts, handling transactions and attending the vault.  She is one of the many faces that greets our customers once they walk in the door.  She joined the team in May of 2008 and can be found at the Milford branch.

"I like the customer service part of my job the most.  I enjoy pleasing customers and fulfilling their financial needs. I also enjoy the different hats that a CSR wears.  We have our hands in different directions, it makes the day go by very fast," said Nancy.

Nancy is a dedicated singer in the St. Mary's of Milford's Church choir for 22 years.  She also loves to listen to music and can be relied on to keep the music playing throughout the bank at all times.  She enjoys reading, riding her bike, walking and traveling.  Last year she went to Italy.  Family is her focal point.  She loves spending time with her children, grandchildren, her mother and of course her husband.

Upon asking Nancy what is her favorite quote, she quoted Leonardo Davinci's, "It's not that we set our goals too high and we don't reach them, it's that we set our goals to low and we do reach them."  Nancy continued, "I'm very thankful for what I have in my life thus far and I hope to reach some higher goals for my future".

Safety Tips

Beware of Emails Requesting Your Account Numbers or PIN

We never send emails requesting account numbers, PIN numbers, or passwords. We will not ask you to click on a link or visit a site to verify account numbers, PIN numbers or passwords. Do not answer these emails. Please notify us if you receive one of these emails.

Traveling to New York - Must Use PIN Number

Due to increased debit card fraud in the state of New York, it has become necessary to put additional restrictions in place for debit card transactions in New York.  Retail purchases including grocery stores and Target will now require a PIN number to complete the purchase.  If you do not know your PIN, please contact your branch office at 248-684-9626 (Milford) or 248-887-9900 (Highland).  We apologize for this inconvenience and take pride in your security.
