STAGE LAUNCHES YOUTH THEATRE PROJECT TO BRING ATTENTION TO YOUNG THEATRE-MAKERS

Oklahoma's The Brass Ring Center and Virginia's Hurrah Players Selected as Program's First Two Partners

New Docuseries to Premiere Showcasing These Initiatives

NEW YORK - STAGE , the first streaming network for premium content devoted to the entire world of theatre, announced its new nationwide initiative to raise awareness to young theatre-makers around the country.  Through partnerships with established regional theatres, educational programs and charitable organizations, "Let's Play," a new docuseries, will be produced to provide a national platform for these inspiring youth theatre programs.  Production is slated to begin on these episodes in early 2019.

"There are so many amazing youth theater programs that exist around the country, and our goal is to showcase these unique education opportunities for developing artists," said Jenn Dumas,  Executive Producer, Media/Operations, STAGE and Executive Producer of the new docuseries.  "Our goal is to use this docuseries as a platform to inspire kids and parents to seek out youth programs in their community to participate in, or work to create a similar program in areas where they don't already exist."

"When we initially developed the idea for STAGE, the entire team agreed that we wanted to use our network to not only highlight professional theatre in New York, Chicago, London and beyond, but also use it as a vehicle to help raise awareness for the amazing work being done around the country in regional theatres, and to put the spotlight on budding artists," said Rich Affannato, chairman, CEO and co-founder of STAGE.  "These initial two partnerships with The Brass Ring and Hurrah Players are the first of what we hope will be numerous relationships around the country!"

The Brass Ring, located in Ardmore, Oklahoma, hosts two community youth programs.  Broadway Kids is a "by audition only" group that is geared toward theatrical performance for children ranging from kindergarten to high school.  The group meets once a week during the school year to prepare a variety of show tunes that are choreographed and staged each May.  The Jim and Ida Williams Summer Youth Theatre program runs three shows per summer, breaking participants up into Grades K-4, Grades 4-8 and Grades 8-12 to perform a well-loved Broadway Show.  Through contributions and a dedicated endowment, the program is free of charge for children to participate.

The Hurrah Players in Norfolk, Virginia, provides musical theatre education and programming for ages five through adult.  The company's popular theatre camps run during Spring Break and Summer Vacation, resulting in a Performance Day at the end of the week.  The theatre also runs performing arts classes throughout the year, culminating in fully staged performances of family-friendly Broadway titles.
