Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene’s devastating 500-mile path of destruction left families helpless, communities stranded, infrastructure in shreds, and people struggling to survive.

Today, more than 600 people remain on the "missing" list, and officials have reported difficulties in identifying some of the deceased. Residents struggle to find words to describe the surrounding catastrophic scene, labeling it only as "indescribable." The total damage from Hurricane Helene has reached $410 million and is expected to grow exponentially.

With more than half of the deaths occurring in North Carolina, the death toll has risen to over 230 people over six states this morning, and horrific stories are being shared across social media and through friends and family.  Entire communities have been destroyed, and lives have been forever changed. TIE’s President went with a team to NC to deliver donations and offer support. She was encouraged by the number of citizens and individuals from other states who united to sort donations, shovel mud from homes and businesses, cut trees, and love on the people who lost everything they had and, in some cases, family members.

Today, a category five hurricane, Milton, is headed toward Florida’s coast. It is said to be one of the most powerful storms to form in the North Atlantic in recent years. It comes just two weeks after Hurricane Helene's devastation. The people of Florida are scrambling to prepare their homes and evacuate their areas.

At Truth in Education, we believe in the power of prayer, and that belief stands firm today. The power of prayer is, quite simply, the power of God, who hears and answers prayer.

“Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” — Matthew 18:18-20

God asks us to pray. Please join us in praying for everyone affected by Hurricane Helene and those in Florida preparing for Hurricane Milton's landfall.

Lord, we grieve with those who are suffering. We thank you for placing the unseen heroes in the path of the helpless and those working to aid in rescuing the displaced and missing. We pray that communities come together to help the businesses and families that have lost everything. We pray that those who don’t know you turn to you and those who do know you lean into you. We pray for strategies and provisions for the needy in the Southeastern U.S. We pray that love prevails and fear becomes obsolete. You are our refuge. We pray all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

Pray for our nation to remain faithful to its founding principles.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin

and heal their land. ” 2 Chronicles 7:14
