Dana Point Harbor Update

Hi Dana Point Boaters,

Hurricane Hilary:

The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for Dana Point and our Harbor. It will also affect San Diego and Alamitos Bay. The NHC predicts 4+ inches of rain, high winds, and local flooding. You can check on the latest forecasts by clicking here. In the interactive Map, click on "tracking & 34kt WSP."

Make sure to get down to the harbor, whichever harbor you are in, and secure your vessel and belongings. Be a good boater, and check on your two neighbors as well. Do you have your boat neighbors' phone numbers? If not, make a mental note to get that information the next time you see them.

Other Advocacy Items:

We are still working with Enforcement at CA Coastal Commission regarding our concerns about DPHP non-compliance with the Coastal Development Permit. We will update you once we have additional information.

It has been brought to our attention that the slips in the new phases of the marina do not have center cleats. We inquired with the marina office if center cleats could be added to slips, like in the past, and the response was: "The new docks will not receive a third cleat per Joe Ueberroth. He is adamant about it because there have been many requests."  Hmm...many boaters have asked for center cleats and dock boxes, and the answer from DPHP is always no. The question we must ask, is Dana Point Marina no longer a marina?

Contrary to what many of you have heard, we are still active on the legal front. Once our exact plan is in place, we will send out a report of how we are moving forward. Please be patient but know a lot is happening behind the scenes.

Please stay safe!
