A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for coastal South Carolina. This means tropical storm conditions are possible within the next 48 hours. Kiawah may experience coastal flooding, especially with the Thursday high tide at 2 p.m. The Friday high tide at 3 p.m. is also a concern. Please exercise caution when moving around the island near these times.

There is a high risk for deadly rip currents, high surf and beach erosion. Tropical storm force wind gusts from 30-40 mph (decreased slightly from yesterday's forecast) are possible, but sustained winds are predicted at 20-30 mph. Rain is not anticipated for our area.

COMMUNITY PREPARATIONS

The town, community association, and Kiawah entities are coordinating storm preparations. 

KICA has closed drainage outfall gates to block incoming tidal water and preserve capacity in our pond system. Learn more about KICA's stormwater management.

MODIFIED OPERATIONS

The Sandcastle's Oceanview Adult Pool deck will be closed on Thursday. Friday's water aerobics class has been cancelled.
