Dear Friends,

Thanks to your support, Just Haiti is in the middle of a three-phase hurricane recovery project for the four communities we work with that were devastated by Hurricane Matthew.

Our first, immediate, response was to send food, as we reported in November.

We just completed the second phase, which was distribution of seeds for food crops (beans and corn).

The hurricane destroyed crops, and in Haiti the farmers retain seeds from the harvest for planting the following year. When you lose your crop to a storm, you not only lose your food in the present, you also lose your ability to plant food in the future.

Just Haiti distributed seeds in Baraderes in mid-January.
Just Haiti coordinator Joane Charles
provides training on proper planting techniques.

After the seed distribution.
The final, and largest, phase of our recovery effort will be replanting lost coffee trees and reforestation, and will begin in late spring.

Thank you for your support!
In gratitude, Kim, Pascal, Lou, Pascal, Michele, Bernard, Dave, Kathy, Angela, Pierre & Steve
