JAX Will Be Ready For URISA!

Jacksonville was recently impacted by record level storm surge from Hurricane Irma. The images of the St John's River overflowing were amazing.

Rest assured that the City and the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront will be ready for us. Our Hyatt contacts let us know that the lobby took on some water, so they have to do some work to freshen up the space and will re-open on October 3, well ahead of GIS-Pro!

So make your plans now if you haven't done so and start checking out the great dining options and attractions in the city. We've got a lot to talk about at the conference from Emergency Response and Disaster Assessment to GIS Strategic Planning and GISP Prep...and you need to be part of the discussion! #JAXStrong

Have you selected your workshop ? Some of the courses are nearly full (particularly those on the topics of NextGen 9-1-1; Emergency Preparedness for GIS; and a Survey of FEMA's Hazus-MH Natural Hazard Loss Estimation Tool (which will introduce participants to the capabilities of Hazus-MH, a GIS-based risk assessment methodology and toolkit created by FEMA for analyzing potential impacts from floods, hurricanes and earthquakes). So don't delay much longer. Remember that attendance at ONE full or half-day workshop is included with your full conference registration - normally an additional fee.

Register soon and make your hotel reservations right away. We've had to add rooms to our discounted room block twice already and they will likely be sold out soon.
  • Interested in exhibiting? There are only 4 booth spaces left, so grab your spot soon!
  • Check out this year's Student Competition (deadline September 22) and Student Volunteer Opportunities (deadline September 29).
  • The conference was approved for 40 AICP-CM credits, and also earns ample GISP points for certification or re-certification. Keep your certifications active!

URISA's GIS Leadership Academy took place in both San Diego, California and Providence, Rhode Island  this year. Thanks to our SoCal and New England URISA Chapters for their hospitality! Both events were very successful. If we can make it happen, we're contemplating offering a third Academy during the first week of December (perhaps in Dallas, Texas). Stay tuned!

The 10th National GIS in Transit Conference  took place last week in Washington DC. The educational content was stellar! Thank you to all of the speakers, committee members, and participants for joining us and making it a great success!

We greatly appreciate the support of our generous conference sponsors: Esri, DTS, GeoDecisions, New Light Technologies and Planning Communities!

We are presenting the  2018 GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference  with the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) next March in Houston, Texas . Note the deadline date (October 1) for  Presentation Proposals
