October 3, 2016

Hyack alumnus Matthew Seymour continues to make an impression during his redshirt season at NCAA Div 1 Ohio University. Last week he was named Scout Team Player of the Week on offense. The Bobcats are 3-2 overall and in 2nd place in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. Matt was a Provincial all-star with the Hyacks in 2014, capping a 4-year career at NWSS.

With the season just around the corner, the Varsity Hyacks are looking for help in a number of areas off the field. The most pressing need is for additional game night staff and poster distribution. If you are interested please contact Barb Drake at: bdrake1@shaw.ca or coach Lalji to get more details. But there are a number of smaller roles also available. Our program has always received outstanding parent and community support, so we expect 2016 will be no different. We look forward to hearing from you.

The Hyacks lost 44-28 to Notre Dame on Friday night at Burnaby Lake. The team showed character in coming back in the 2nd half, but very poor start was too much to overcome. Lucas Sabau led the team with 87 yards rushing and 2 TDs, while Josh Olango and Broxx Comia each added 1 TD. Defensively Prento Durigon stood out with 9 tackles. The loss drops the Hyacks to 1-1 in league play (3-2 overall) and the team will have a much needed bye this week.

After losing their first game of the season last Thursday against Terry Fox, the Hyack JVs will continue league play this Thursday against Notre Dame at 5:30 pm at Mercer Stadium. The JVs are currently 3-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.
