VARSITY HYACKS IMPROVE TO 4-0

In what was a defensive battle until half, the Hyacks made the necessary offensive adjustments at halftime, to score 23 points after the break and win 26-7 over Handsworth. Greyson Planinsic's 49 yard run early in the 3rd quarter was the first TD of the game. Michael Udoh scored from 54 yards out early in the 4th quarter final gave the home team some breathing room. Taran Birdi closed out the scoring catching a 9 yard TD pass from Payton Myers. Planinsic and Udoh each rushed for over 100 yards for the 3rd straight game.

Planinsic was the Player of the Game, while Vishaan Narayan was again the Dairy Queen Lineman of the Game. Andros Dancey turned in another strong defensive performance, while Deakon Young added another interception. This was the 5th straight win for the top-ranked Hyacks, who improved to 4-0 in league play (5-1 overall) and will travel to Vancouver College on Saturday in a battle of two highly ranked teams .

JVs WIN BIG OVER SEAQUAM

The JVs handily defeated Seaquam 35-8 on Thursday. All 35 Hyack points came in the first 18 minutes of the game, as every player in uniform got a chance to play. Lucas Steele opened the scoring, followed by Jairus Pagtakhan, both on long TD runs. Nathan Drake returned an interception for a touchdown, his first of two interceptions in the game. Austin Tustin played his best game ever at quarterback, throwing a pair of TD passes, one each to Dyson Glavas and Mattias Seganfreddo. The JVs record is now 3-2 overall (1-1 in league play) and they will travel to Vancouver College on Saturday morning.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

PEE WEE
After winning the first game of a home and home series against Cloverdale last Friday, the pee wees lost round two this past Sunday. Ajay Meltzer was forced into emergency duty at quarterback and did an admirable job with minimal time to prepare. Nathan Hillmann continues to be a force defensively, along with Linkin Twamley. Up front, Alex Jasper and EJ Hansraj stood out.

ATOM
The Atoms Hyacks put in another strong defensive performance for the second week in a row, holding the North Surrey Rams offense to just 8 points. Unfortunately it wasn't enough, as the team lost 10-8. Joey Baker continued his streak of TD's with a long catch and run. Owen Coehlo and Narayan Dhir made TD saving plays on a pair of goal line stops.

TYKE BLACK :
After having their 4-game winning streak snapped last Friday, the black team got back in the win column with a 20-12 win at White Rock. Gabriel Hubian had a long run, while Aiden Kainth was a flagging machine.

TYKE ORANGE :
Team Orange tied South Delta 7-7 at Mercer Stadium. This game was a defensive struggle, with Vincent McCarty scoring the Hyacks only TD on a long run, and adding the PAT. But his most impressive play came on defence when he tracked down a player from behind on what looked to be a sure TD.
