JV HYACKS BOUNCE BACK

The JVs got back into the win column with a 26-14 victory over Abbotsford.  Balraj Munjal opened the game with an 85 yard kickoff return.  Andros Dancey, who played both QB and RB in this game, then scored on a 13 yd TD. Dancey then connected with  Dyson Glavis on 13 yd TD pass to make it 20-14 at halftime.  Jayden Kastelein rounded out the scoring with a 25 yd TD run early in the 4th quarter.

Defensively Munjal and Dancey also added interceptions.  Forrest Xu and  Gus Oliver stood out along the defensive line and  Ethan Bresser had a very good game on both sides of the ball. The JVs are now 2-1 (1-0 in league play) and have a bye from game action this week. Their next game will be Thurs, Oct 4 at Mercer Stadium against STM at 5:30pm.

HYACKS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT

The Hyacks began their first of 3 straight road games with a win, 36-6 on a rain-soaked field at Handsworth. The defense continues to dominate with a performance that included 19 total tackles for loss, including 7 sacks and minus-31 rushing yards. Evan Nolli tied a school record with 4 QB sacks , had an additional 4 tackles for loss, and returned a fumble 20 yards for a TD. It was the 4th defensive TD recorded by the Hyacks in the past 3 games, while the unit has given up just 2 defensive TDs during that time. Saahil Bhambra chipped in with 2 sacks and 3 more tackles for loss.

Offensively Michael Kingsley rushed for 107 yards and Broxx Comia scored on runs of 27 and 46 yards. Kinsale Philip (20 yards) and Michael Udoh (25 yards) also scored along the ground, to round out the scoring for the visitors. The Hyacks (3-1 overall, 2-0 in league play) will take on a very strong South Delta team on Saturday, Sept 29th at 1:30pm.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

The RCHFC continued their regular season this past weekend:

JR BANTAM:
Back to the drawing board for the JBs who lost a grudge match vs the Westside Warriors. Led by pinpoint passing of quarterback Teagan Barre, tight end Sartaj Mahli and slotback Terrence Booker combined for over 150 yards in the air, but it wasn't enough to get the win. Booker also had an interception off of a Barre tipped pass.

PEE WEE:
The Pee Wees played their best game of the season, defeating North Delta 27-12. Lukas Lalji opened the game with a 72 yard kickoff return TD, his first of 2 scores in the game. Benicio Hageleit scored and was a force rushing and receiving, while Milan Kos scored the other TD. Defensively, Nigel Derasp was a force with three sacks and a forced fumble, and Luke Banks and Raja Vahidi made key tackles.

ATOM:
Team Black shut down the Richmond Raiders 46-0. Key blocks came from Owen Coelho, Luca Mauxion and Darius Wolkowski, along with several sacks and TDs by Benjamin MacKinnon. The Biniaris brothers each walked away with a TD catch.

Team Orange battled hard but lost to Coquitlam. Angelo Blanco was blocking hard on the O-line, Jai-shon Llewellyn played a solid defensive game not allowing any outside runs to his side of the field, making multiple flags.

TYKE:
Team Orange lost 25-18 to Langley, running out of time on the 10 yard line with a chance to tie. Following a scoreless first half, Travis Zimmerman returned an interception for a TD. Austin Che continued his great year with 2 more rushing TDs.

Congratulations to the RCHFC winners of the BC Lions Punt Pass & Kick competition:

Flag - Payton Vahra
