HOMECOMING, PRESENTED BY KEY WEST FORD, ANOTHER HUGE SUCCESS
Even the rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the large crowd once again in attendance at Homecoming 2018, presented by Key West Ford. The pre-game party, featuring Paw Patrol, bouncy castles and games along
with the Alumni Flag Football game and tug-o-war event was fun for all.
Before kickoff Hyack alums Severio Asaba and Juan Cespedes unveiled a replica of the 2017 Provincial Championship banner which is now proudly displayed atop the press box. The football program also made a presentation to Heather Stewardson, wife of the late Stan Stewardson, who played for the original Lester Pearson HS football team in the mid-1950s, and was also an iconic basketball and lacrosse coach in the lower mainland.
At halftime the Vancouver Travelling Band entertained the fans, while members of the Royal City Hyacks youth football program played flag football games at halftime. Dave Betker won a 2003 Ford Escape, valued at $6800, the Sharp 43" Smart TV was won by an NWSS student.
Hyacks Football would like to thank Key West Ford, media sponsor the New Westminster Record, along with all other sponsors, parents and volunteers who made Homecoming 2018 another memorable event.

Junior Bantams brought home their first win against White Rock, grinding out a 13-8 win despite missing some key players. Sartaj Malhi had a great two way performance, which included four catches for 50 yards. Alex Collins was a force on the defensive line. Tarrence Booker also had a solid day on defense, setting the edge and making plenty of solo tackles. Jayden Bustamante scored on a 60 yard run, while Maxim Butkovskiy scored the other Hyacks touchdown.
The Pee Wees lost to Westside 13-7, in a game that was highlighted by Jalen Pagtahkan's 70 yard run. Benicio Hageleit scored the Hyacks TD, while Nikolas Panesar and Alex Dolmat showed improved play in the defensive secondary. The Pee Wee and tyke flag teams also had a blast playing at halftime of Homecoming!
Team Black defeated the North Surrey T-Birds 40-16, led by Benjamin MacKinnon, who scored 4 touchdowns and was 5 for 5 on kicking converts. The defensive play of Alexander Biniaris, Christhony Dela Cruz and Demetri Biniaris shut down the opposition. Alexander also caught a 20 yard pass for a touchdown
