In a battle of two of the top four ranked teams in BC, the Hyacks came away with a 29-6 win over Mt Douglas in Victoria. The visitors opened the scoring when Kinsale Philip found Finn Stark for a 35 yard TD pass. The lead grew to 15-0 before the end of the first half when Lucas Sabau scored from 2 yards out. Broxx Comia extended the lead to 23-6 in the 4th quarter with a 12 yard run, before Philip found Sebastien Reid for a 40 yard TD to close out the scoring. Reid also managed a pair of interceptions in this game. Severio Asaba and Taran Birdi led the way on defense with 6 tackles each.
The Hyacks are now 3-1 overall, 1-0 in league play, and the schedule doesn't get any easier this week as they travel to Vancouver College for a game on Saturday. Last season the Hyacks came from behind, scoring a late TD pass for a 13-10 win over the Irish. The team will be meeting at Mercer Stadium at 10:30 am on Saturday.

This Saturday the price at the gate is $5 for adults, $2 for students and under 12 are free. A portion of the gate will go to supporting a Christian Brothers school, St. Mary's in Dominica. Dominica was devastated by a category 5 hurricane last week. 98% of buildings have been damaged on the island. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The JVs remained unbeaten, following a 20-7 win in Abbotsford last Thursday, to improve their record to 2-0-1. Following an early fumble recovery by Matthew Drake, freshman QB Andros Dancey opened the scoring on a QB sneak. Greyson Planinsic scored in the 2nd quarter, with Evan Rees adding the 2-point convert. Mahtab Garcha scored on a 10 yard run before halftime, to round out the scoring. Linemen Pavan Kainth and Vishaan Narayan were dominant on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
The JVs return home to face Carson Graham on Thursday at 5:30pm at Mercer Stadium.

The Hyacks continued their toughest portion of the regular season, falling 21-6 to North Surrey on Sunday. Once again this was an extremely close game, just 7-6 entering the 4th quarter. A late deep pass and run from Teagan Barre to Dennis Glavas almost brought the Hyacks back to within a score. Playing in their final game of the season, RB Umayr Afendy stood out on offense, while Ammar Afendy did the same defensively. Jordan Baba was also a force on defense.
Following a very good week of practice, the Pee Wees won their first game of the season in improbable fashion, 2-0 over North Surrey. The 1st half ended on a Benicio Hageleit highlight reel interception to keep the score tied at zero. QB Gavin Garrett found AJ Llewellyn and Braidon Grant for long passing plays, while the backfield tandem of Hageleit and Gregory Palmer tore up the North Surrey D. The only score of the game came with just 2 min to play, when Palmer sacked the QB for a safety. But it would still take a game saving tackle by Andrew Vanden Driessen in the final seconds to preserve the win.
The Atoms lost their first game of the season, 24-16, thanks to a late Coquitlam TD with just 2 minutes to play. Lukas Lalji opened the scoring on a 70 yard run, while Daniel Penalver also scored for the Hyacks. Nathan Hillmann and Nigel Desrap continue to dominate defensively. Penalver and Hillmann also kicked PATs in this game.
The Hyacks improved to 3-0 with a 19-7 win over the GSL Chargers.  Jett Abel found AJ Meltzer for the first TD pass. Abel also scrambled for a pair of TDs. Alex Morosoff and James Loredo were outstanding with their blocking and pass protection. Defensive standout Justin Wang came up with a critical 4th and goal stop late in the first half.
Team Orange defeated White Rock 14-12. Austin Zhang and Miguel Perez scored TDs and were also strong defensively, while Christhony Dela Cruz also stood out on both sides of the ball, scoring another TD and helping seal the victory in the last 10 seconds.
